Publisher's Summary

World-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck, in decades of research on achievement and success, has discovered a truly groundbreaking idea - the power of our mindset.

Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment but may actually jeopardise success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades as well as reach our own goals - personal and professional. Dweck reveals what all great parents, teachers, CEOs and athletes already know: how a simple idea about the brain can create a love of learning and a resilience that is the basis of great accomplishment in every area.

Great book

informative and easy to understand. narration was terrible though and detracted from the message of the book. sounded like a robot. i adjusted my settings continuously to try to fix it but gave up.

Narrator sounds robotic

The content is great, the narration... not great. I persevered as Dweck is onto something with the growth mindset idea. Please have someone else ‘perform’ this audiobook.

Fantastic book. Sadly narrator sounded robotic.

After reading the paper book first I knew it was great. As soon as it came on Audible I wanted to listen to it over and over. I struggled to really listen as I was distracted by the narrator as she sounded robotic and she was annoying. I got through it once. I will not listen to it through this narrator again. I would prefer to read the book myself not listen to a robotic voice. I would love another narrator to read this book as it is that good and this book deserves a better narrator.

great book, but robotic voice was annoying

the material covered in this book is explained well and definitely thought provoking for me as an individual, partner, parent and healthcare professional. I did find the narrators voice a bit android like, not sure if it was a real person or AI but spoiled the experience for me.

Robot voice

I am not sure I can get used to this. First audiobook and her voice sounds so robotic... a bit of a disappointment.

Thoroughly engaging

Lots of anecdotes thtat allowed a wide understanding of growth mindset. I would have liked the last chapter to be longer - how to put the growth mindset into practice.

robotic voice ruins listening experience

The strange robotic voice is so incongruent with the topic it makes it very hard to enjoy and learn from. I gave up at chapter 3.

Robotic voice spoils this

Self help books are already going to be repetitive, but the robotic voice narrating this painful to listen to.

Great concept but not a great book

packed with anecdotes and stories about individuals but each chapter feels like a re-read of the last. also, I ran a book club at work to cover this topic but the chapters in the audiobooks and the printed version are numbered differently. can think why this would be a good idea.

nice but not straight to the point

It's a nice book, but you have to stick to the end in order to get some useful tips. the first 6-8 chapters are just 'a list of' a fixed mindset person said this and a growth mindset person said that.

Mindset Updated Edition

A brilliantly knit narration, punctuated with pragmatic examples that are very useful particularly for those in education and cancelling professions.
