I was just your average college anthropology student. I went to class, worked my minimum-wage job, and studied for exams. Until I discovered that monsters are real and that I can summon the most powerful of them all: dragons. Now, I’m a Dragon Conjurer working for a secret agency/academy that protects the world from monsters behind the scenes, and two of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever met are in my squad and super into me. And it seems that they don’t mind sharing. Life is about to become awesome.

Publisher's Summary
Eight internet friends have an "IRL" meeting in a mountain cabin. But instead of the long weekend get-together they planned, they're suddenly caught up in the end of the world as they knew it!
They just met for the first time in real life last night, and today's group wake-up call is strange messages floating in the air telling them that something called a "System Start" has just happened. Now magic works and technology doesn't. Cell phones won't work, cars won't start, and it's 10 miles to the nearest town. Some of them have families to worry about. Some of them don't even believe this is real. And all of them have secrets they'll have to overcome if they're going to work together and make it back to town alive.
On the way, they'll meet other survivors, also confused, scared, and questioning what's happening. Ten miles doesn't seem that far, but by the end of it, they'll have faced some of the worst that the System can throw at them.
And then things really get interesting.
The small Tennessee town they're trying to reach is isolated, cut off, and surrounded by a new and terrifying world. Outside the town, ordinary creatures are becoming things out of nightmare. And inside the town, legends are coming to life....
Mind Games is a new GameLit/LitRPG novel in the tradition of Tao Wong's "System Apocalypse". If you enjoy books by William Arand, Scottie Futch, and other contemporary LitRPG writers, you'll love Mind Games!

Decent but book would be better without Danielle
Nyuh is probably the most annoying thing to get hit in the ears with repeatedly. I'll probably pick up the second book hoping for less "Nyuh" and more story in favor of the pages about how hot and amazing the cat girl is. But it really is a solid and enjoyable story beyond that.

smh 😥 do not buy this for cat girls
I won't tell you what to do but I will warn you. this is a terribly forced soft version of other books already done. I understand the genre shtick but this is almost a mirror image rip off seemingly written from a position toning down the assertive nature humans develop in the face of adversity. This book has more mental issues so apparent through the writing in its passive aggressive nature it makes me sad for some peoples child hood.. And the cat girl hook is a fake. It shouldn't even be on the cover. But, thats just my opinion on one of the over 700 titles in my library.

Annoying
I don't care how cute she is, that stupid noise is annoying as hell. Also, anyone reading this already knows how gaming works. If you have any idea what a RPG is, then I would strongly recommend finding another book, this one is slow as hell and the characters are unbelievably dense.

A really great real world litrpg!
Probably one of the more realistic interpretations of how this would go for most people. The "gamers mind" helping people keep from totally freaking out is much overlooked but absolutely necessary for any kind of realism in people not just mentally breaking down.

Overall OK
This story begins quite good, but the pace is awkward at times, and slows down considerably towards the middle.. The narration is okay, but needs more diversity and a female VA for the females characters. The character development and actions as based on their stats dont always follow along which makes it confusing at times. Alot of things are heavily borrowed from other authors of similar litrpgs, but the story still manages to be satisfying at important moments :-).. Worth a listen if you don't judge too harsh against a budding author in the litrpg genre!

Why oh why do I do it to myself? 😁
The narrator sometimes seems to forget what characters he's on but other then that it was good - the story was believable and well written. The only thing (coming from someone who's average book length is 15 hrs) is that it was to short and I'm probably going to have to wait a Yr for the next one! Hence the above lol
