Publisher's Summary

Kaely Quinn's talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she's demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis.

When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely's, the reporter's ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem's predictions, the threat is undeniable, and the FBI sends Special Agent Noah Hunter to St. Louis.

Initially resentful of the assignment, Noah is surprised at how quickly his respect for Kaely grows, despite her oddities. But with a brazen serial killer who breaks all the normal patterns on the loose, Noah and Kaely are tested to their limits to catch the murderer before anyone else - including Kaely herself - is killed.

Fantastic, Gripping, and Unpredictable

I LOVED this book. I was constantly changing my mind about who it was, and when I found out, I was of course wrong and shocked. I loved that the end had some nice twists that made me gasp. It's hard to keep my attention, but I was loathe to push pause and couldn't sleep until I'd finished this.

It was a bit dark. Not gory so much as creepy a bit because she is in the minds of killers, so for that I'd recommend it for older teens and up. I wasn't bothered by the Christian moments, but I am an active Christian. I think it's so fantastic, go ahead and listen and just skip ahead if those make you uncomfortable. It wasn't common, and I didn't find it distracting from the plot. It's so fast paced, you barely have time to breathe.

Bottom line: One of the BEST mysteries I've ever read. I can't wait for the next!

Totally love this book!

I'm about half way through and I love this book. I picked this book because I had never listened to anything by the author or the narrator before. The narrator is absolutely perfect for this book and she did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I have already picked (in my mind) a couple of suspects and then discarded them because something else came up. I think this book will pretty much have me doing that until the very end.

Some reviews that I read were somewhat negative on the "preachiness" of the book and felt that it should be in the Christian section. I'm a Christian and if I put books where I thought they belonged based on the characters and their actions and language the only books in the Mystery section would be written by Agatha Christie. Don't like sex scenes? Skip them. Swearing? Skip them. Preaching? Skip them. I read to be entertained and I can always put the book back or stop the audio if I don't like the way things are presented.

Like I said before, I'm half way through and I love it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story and a great narrator.

Enjoyable!

I was impressed that this had a Christian undertone without being preachy. A breath of fresh air. I find it preferable to unnecessary sexual themes. I look forward to hearing another by this author.

Could easily have been a 5 star book but...

I really enjoyed this book tremendously. I do have one gripe though - I did not know what a prominent part the Christian faith would play with the profiler. At every moment of crisis or bedtime the protagonist's religious beliefs and prayer came to the forefront. Not exactly what I look for in a murder/mystery/suspense/procedural.
Anyway , that aside I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of this book. This story takes off immediately and doesn't let up until the end. Kaeley Quinn is a profiler of serial killers. She grew up not knowing her father was one. She has a not quite by the book method of figuring out who done it and is either well respected or disdained by fellow workers in the FBI. There are some really good twists and a killer you won't see coming because the author leaves so many clue that could point to many different people.
Traci Odom does an excellent job narrating.
I recommend this book with reservations due to the abundance of Christianity which may be due to a problem with categorization.

Suspenseful

This story had me guessing right to the end. The unveiling of “the bad guy” was a surprise. Well written and entertaining to listen to.
