"Min soldateronkel" er en historie om én af Danmarks hårdeste perioder set med barneøjne. Bogen er en selvstændig fortsættelse af "Da far gik i land". Den danske forfatter og digter Lean Nielsen blev født i 1935 og debuterede i 1969 med digtsamlingen "Fru Jensen in memoriam". Herefter udgav han den ene digtsamling efter den anden, og i 1982 sprang han ud som prosaist med novellesamlingen "Ned ad trappen, ud på gaden".
