Publisher's Summary

Big-city sophistication meets carnal hunger in this devilish contemporary romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.

James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man - it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

Though Lizzy loves seeing James in his clothes - and out of them - he isn’t the kind of man you bring home to Daddy. Her father’s disapproval and the pressure of the campaign have her eyeing the straight and narrow, but Lizzy’s finding it awfully hard to resist the devil on her shoulder…

DNF

Couldn’t get into this.
The main male character just seemed like an ass and the acceptance of this was just not on. Not for me. Have returned

Wow

Really enjoyed this Cinderella reverse style. So glad that he realised that you can change the outer layer but the inner layer is always there. A great story.

Unbelievably Immature Female Lead

Elizabeth Banks is 25 years old, THE daughter of a powerful and wealthy man, a Stanford graduate vying to be the next CEO of the company her father created. She is beautiful, confident, worldly and educated. She works everyday of her life to earn her father's respect. So when her father asks her to take his place at a launch party for hundreds of the movers and shakers in their industry does she step up to the responsibility? I won't say what happens because I don't want to put any spoilers in this review.
I understand there are only so many tropes for "romance" novels. The formulaic impossible relationship followed by perceived or real betrayal then forgiveness and a HEA ending. What would make an author as good as Katy Evans stoop to making the female lead behave as she does? Surely there were other ways to make the story line work. I'm very disappointed and will be returning this book.

It was okay

Liz and James is good together. The two were attracted to each other from the start but they didn't rush into it. They took the time to know each other and still manage to have a good work relationship.Liz's behavior at the Launch though, seriously that's the best way you could handle that situation? Almost ruined the whole book for me. I'm on the fence on this one so it's a 3.5⭐ for me. Some of Liz's ideas for making James into the perfect man didn't sit well with me either. My suggestion is read this one yourself to form your own opinion you might enjoy it a lot more than I did

Save your time.

I struggled to finish this book neither of the characters you really grabbed my attention honestly I can't even really remember their names. The premise was week, and the climax seemed forced. She never really became a strong female just got really drunk and blurted out the big secret… then somehow the fall out was OK. I enjoy Katy Evans but would not recommend this book

Can’t stand the voice and the reader

I tried so hard to get past the voice and the reader, but it was so irritating that after five minutes I had to just turn it off. It’s like she has a lisp. And worse when she did that male voice.

It’s missing something

When a nemesis, male or female, jumps out of nowhere in the last few chapters of a book I am pretty sure that character was a throw in to move the story to an end. However, I feel the reader was short changed because there is a chunk missing from the one sided hate relationship of the bitter person against the heroine. A minuscule sentence is thrown in to “explain” the sudden appearance of the nasty person with no real foundation. Unfortunately that is what happened in this story.
Million Dollar Devil had great potential but about two thirds of the way through the story, it lost its footing.
It’s at the end when there needed to be a conclusion to their relationship that the rush to end their story led to a BIG let down.
Back the story line up some, add in a well developed jealous hate relationship between competing companies, employees and the ending would have had more merit. Maybe a rewrite can make this average book into a really, really good one.
On the plus side - I liked the H and h. I liked how their attraction developed slowly. I liked James, the down to earth man and brother and his “other side”, the suave gentleman. I liked Elizabeth, the pleaser and the patient teacher. They were good characters and deserved more than a speedy ending.

Narration Needs work

Grace’s narrative as Jimmy was not my favorite, it was too slow. It made me not want to listen to all of the audiobook. The story was ok, I just had a hard time getting through the parts where she spoke as Jimmy.

Worth the credit

This book had a pretty original storyline. Lizzy has been working her whole life to prove herself to her father but he has yet to notice her abilities. So when it falls to her to find a new model for the famous Banks Mensware Line she feels the pressure to produce greatness. But when all of the top models turn her down she stumbles upon inspiration in a dank, seedy bar. Now she just has to transform him into the "perfect man" without anyone finding out that she found him in the gutter.

Great narration, MEH! On the chemistry

The strongest asset this audio has is the narration and how spot on it is. If I would have had to read it IDK if I would have finished it. There was a disconnect, for me, between the main characters and I just couldn't engage with them as I would have liked. I found the heroine weak and lacking a back bone, and I can't deal with characters that need to be in constant pursuit of validation. A 3/5 stars.
