On the face of it the story didn't seem like it was as interesting as it turned out to be, Very well put together.

The author occasionally gets angry about "the whites" but such casual racism is pretty common on audible sadly. Despite that I enjoyed it.

You couldn’t get a better fact-finding perfectly researched tale of events. It is done so much better than modern journalists nowadays are about sensationalising to sell stories. James Dommek Junior has done an absolutely superb job

Great change of pace

I was looking for something interesting to listen to while I was sewing. I found Midnight Son by James Dommek Jr et al, and WOW! It didn't take long to become totally immersed. This is a well produced and presented telling of the story of what can happen when there is a clash of cultures. For some the journey can be profound, sometimes this a positive experience, and for others, there may be dire consequences. I loved it from the first word to the last.
IMHO - We should be respecting and protecting our ancient cultures, languages and stories. Especially where the main essence is a "do no harm and promoting care for others". Anyway, after listening to Midnight Son, I've managed to find myself going down a rabbit hole to find out more about this particular story, and Alaskan Native Folklore.
I would highly recommend this audiobook.
