Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Midnight Fae Academy.

Home of the Dark Arts.

Vampires.

And cruelly handsome fae.

A forbidden bite led to my capture and recruitment.

There are no flowers here.

No life. Only death.

I’m an Earth Fae who doesn’t belong here.

They can play their little mind games all they want, but I'm going to find a way back to my elemental world. Even if it kills me.

Except, Headmaster Zephyrus is one step ahead of my every move.

Prince Kolstov won’t stop cornering me.

And Shadow - the reason I’m in this damn mess to begin with - haunts my dreams.

My affinity for the earth is dying and being replaced by something more sinister. Something powerful. Something deadly.

The Midnight Fae believe this is my fate.

They claim that I was “recruited” for a purpose.

To battle a rising presence. Or to die trying.

I don’t owe them a damn thing. But if I have to pass their trials to find my way home, then so be it. I survived a plague and far worse in the Elemental Fae realm. An ominous energy? Please. What a joke.

Give it your best shot. I’m waiting.

And don’t you dare bite me. Or, I’ll make you regret it.

Author's note: This is a dark paranormal reverse harem trilogy with bully romance (enemies-to-lovers) elements. Despite Aflora’s opinions on the matter, there will definitely be biting. Shadow, a.k.a. Shade, guarantees it. This book ends on a cliff-hanger.

Repeated RAPE scenes

I am not a rape victim but parts of this I found incredibly difficult to listen to, to the point I had to pause and stop eating my tasty dinner to write this review.

I don't know how anyone can include any rape, let alone repeated rape in this fantasy genre. It tries to justify rape in that the woman ends up falling in love with the arsehole.

I always look at reviews and general star ratings before buying any book and I can't believe how the vast majority give this 5 stars with zero commentary on the frequent rape shown in this book.

I thought the first rape was bad enough but getting further into the story she was housed far away from the rapist and I started to enjoy the story, I'm a guy and enjoy well dressed women so that I was enjoying, but then while she was picking out clothing, In pops the rapist to assault her again further entrenching the forced bond.

I could almost have accepted the rape at the beginning of the book to set the scene and have her powers mixing and strengthening and perhaps relationships with those she was living with or fellow school students, pref FF rather than the male bonding which isn't to my taste but to continue the rapists relationship throughout the whole book just isn't acceptable to me.

1 star for great narrators.
Also, why do they swear so much 🥶

Argh, I'm wriggling uncomfortably wanting to punch him in the throat, shove my thumbs in his eyes, knee him in the nuts, anything to stop him raping her. I can't imagine how horrific it must be to experience being raped in real life.
