Not what I expected

I'll start by saying each to their own.... but, I was expecting... um, better. The narration in the first story is awful. Maybe some folks don't mind it and might disagree, But I really don't think the narrator matched his voice to the characters at all. I just couldn't get by it. I tried four times. The story is completely different than the three previous books. It is too new age and not enough sci-fi, for me. That's what I enjoyed about the first three books and the narration was just wonderful with the first three also. So, that's my very disappointed two cents worth.

More of the same, in a different and good way

This omnibus follows the first omnibus in stellar fashion. In many ways it is more of the same as the first three books, in that it follows the same general premise. That is a good thing though, because the general premise is a good one. These three books take this premise in a different and interesting direction (a very different direction in one of the three books).

I didn't agree with philosophy; but story top notc

It's the characters and their limiting beliefs that hook the reader. Sure the characters have multiple do-overs, why does it bring happiness and love and for others the desire to stop the do overs? Great binge worthy stories.

also not what I expected.

this book is not like the first three, sorry to burst anybody's bubble but I agree with a previous comment too much new age and not enough sci-fi. plus the narrator sounds too melodramatic something like this was your life. I don't like to downright bash a book but I just can't get into it. the author must have been out on a Lem with Shirley MacLaine. I really enjoyed the first three books this stood true but this one I'm sorry but it's not my thing.

Bigoted and full of religious bias

This book includes a non-religious character clearly authored by a religious person with no understanding what so ever of modern atheist thought or scientific scepticism. The phrase "there are no atheists in foxholes" is used to justify a section where the non-religious character prays. This is a massively insulting insinuation aimed at non-religious veterains and active military personnel, suggesting a level of cowardice. My first reaction to this was to double check the year the book was written. Absolutely disgusting, insulting and bigoted.

Another section implies it isn't possible to convince a sceptic after the same non-religious character uses a weird magicians' approach in an attempt to convince a psychologist he is a time traveller. The character seals a prediction in an envelope, which isn't opened until much later, after the predicted event takes place. The psychologist rightly argues that it is more likely the envelope was switched than time travel has occurred. From this, the author concludes skeptics cannot be convinced! It would be the easiest thing in the world to convince a sceptic you're a time traveller if you really were one. Don't use methods that are easily explained away as conjurers tricks. Instead, make multiple precise predictions of unpredictable events in advance that turn out to be right. Simple. The insinuation that skeptics are simply expressing a bias is insulting and wrong.

Overall, this isn't much of a sci fi series, it's more like a thinly veiled christian fantasy.

Excellent

I loved this book. Such an original approach to time travel and the development of such wonderful characters. You simply have to keep reading to find out what happens to them. Thank you.
