Publisher's Summary

Polly is a middle schooler who is pulling back the curtain on a fishy family secret. She lacks confidence at the start of her hero's journey. She starts as a typical awkward middle schooler but is anything but typical as she discovers. The story is actually comprised of three storylines: hers, the animals, and the secret itself. The stories weave together crossing at times like a braid. It centers around a mystery and Polly's drive to solve the mystery. Polly thinks she can save her mother who is suffering from depression by solving the mystery. She learns more and more about herself and the secrets that have been kept from her with the help of her family and friends and some unlikely fuzzy contributors as she attempts to piece the puzzle of the mystery together.

This is the first book of the series. The second book, Mermaid Hair: The Knot and third book, Mermaid Hair: Combing Out the Knots further the storylines solving the mysteries and revealing the entire secret.
