The story was simple and enjoyable. Could have done with a bit more urgency during the fights and the pacing was off.

I had this booked in my TBR pile for quite some time. Now I'm sorry I didn't listen to it sooner.

The story had the right amount of suspense, danger and humour.

Growth was shown by not just the main character, but by almost all characters surrounding the main.

The story was easy to follow, and the magic and the cost of that magic was believable.

The only down side is I don't have the second book ( If it has even been written yet...?)

I do hope that if there is a second book in this series that it is based around the MCs attending the fabled magic school.

A nice easy read in the author’s typical style. It might even be in the same ‘universe’ as his Hill’s family series. My only complaint is the lackluster conflicts. Other than that it was a fun quick escape from reality.
