Ich wurde 1908 als fünftes von sechs Kindern geboren, ich war das einzige Mädchen. Noch bevor ich in die Schule kam, verließ mein Vater die Familie. Ich mag ihn irgendwie, den Tod. Ich habe mich in all den Jahrzehnten an ihn gewöhnt wie an einen alten Bekannten. Von frühester Kindheit an war er mein treuester Begleiter, der einzige, der immer, wirklich immer, da war. Er ist die Konstante meines Lebens, so wie bei anderen ein Beruf oder ein Ehepartner.
