Publisher's Summary

The surprising story of how wrestling superstar Glenn "Kane" Jacobs beat all the odds to become the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Even in his heyday in wrestling, Jacobs was inspired to pursue politics by popular libertarian figures such as former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, Republican Senator Rand Paul, Fox News' Judge Andrew Napolitano and others, and that led him to fulfill his own political ambitions.

Before becoming Mayor Kane, Glenn "Kane" Jacobs was one of WWE's top Superstars for over two decades and traveled the globe with the likes of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, Ric Flair, and many others. He dominated the WWE with The Undertaker as the "Brothers of Destruction." Kane reinvented himself with the help of Daniel Bryan forming "Team Hell No." He set "Good ol' JR", Jim Ross on fire.

The wrestler-turned-politician hasn't hung up his wrestling boots yet. Politics is a contact sport and Jacobs is using his wrestling skills in that arena. Jacobs supports President Trump and his agenda, and is implementing conservative policies in Tennessee.

As a life long Kane fan...

The book was alright. More of a glossing over of his career. If you listen to any wrestling podcast (Something to Wrestle or Grilling JR) you can get more of a behind the scenes look then Glenn gives. It seemed like he was just giving bullet points and spent a lot of time just repeating how so and so was his favorite to deal with...until the next story came along and that person was his favorite. Obviously because of the title of the book, I expected some politics talk but it got to the point of just self promotion and not actual politics talk. All in all, if you listen to wrestling podcast, you wont hear (read) anything new or exciting in this book.

Awesome if your a Kane fan

This audio book was great, hearing about Kane and his WWE career was great read. Hearing about his political career and views was also set in a neutral tone which is great, Kane is an all around genuine guy.

Spoiler alert past chapter 10 gets political

I enjoyed the book even when it dabbled in political theories, but I had to skip one chapter. Overall though for me the one chapter in just a cliff in my overall experience and I am not asking for a review. Note: if he began to praise That Che guerilla who blew up changes but still appears on t-shirt I would have skip that two

LEGEND, IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE RING!

It’s hard to dislike this book, especially when you’re not only WWE KANE fan, but also Glenn Jacob’s! This book is funny at the same time touchy yet informative.

Too much real politics, not WWE politics!

No shocks nor great stories; his personal political beliefs are naïve "American Dream" chasing flannel

Worth a listen if your a wwe

After reading a few reviews I opted to go it. I did enjoy it but felt that it was a little tame. It could be that nothing absolutely outrageous happened in his career and that he absolutely agrees with wwe completely and if so I’m glad for him but it felt lacking in the mental stories you hear about the business from other memoirs. Didn’t feel like there was too much politics involved at all contrary to other reviews (from a uk listener).

Made me like the man behind the mask even more.

Glenns autobiography is a standout. This is one wrestlers account that is not just full of inspiration but hope. It is short, yet sweet. Brief, yet informative. He highlights the best points of his wrestling career along with his personal life, both with his family and behind the wrestling curtain. If you’re expecting a full blown in-depth account of all his wrestling career you may be left in the cold as Glenn gets through most stories in bullet point form. Cannot recommend this enough. By the end you’ll be wondering if there could be a big red machine in the oval office.

Great insight behind the mask

I loved this book. I am a big fan of pro wrestling but an even bigger Kane fan and have been waiting 20 plus years for a book on his life. It's great to hear more about Glenn and the stories he's had with all the interesting characters thrown in. I thought Glenn's naration was top notch. Sincere at times and very funny at others. Even if you don't like wrestling, Glenn gives enough insight for you to understand the stories he tells. Highly recommended!! Thank you Kane!!! Thank you Mr Jacobs!!!

A really enjoyable book.

I really enjoyed Mayor Jacob's book. I'm a wrestling fan from the UK. I enjoyed his journey playing the role of Kane, his outlook on the Montreal Screwjob and I was surprised by his political views, including those of Donald Trump. He has inspired me to learn more about libertarianism, Ron and Rand Paul. I've not used Audible before and I was surprised when I played it and the book was read by Glen himself. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and was still wanting more when the book ended. Hopefully, there will be another in the future.
