Publisher's Summary

The deliciously uplifting new novel from the Sunday Times best-selling author of This Could Change Everything and Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay. Not to be missed by listeners of Lucy Diamond and Katie Fforde.

When Mimi first visits her dad's new home in the Cotswolds, she falls in love with Goosebrook and the people who live there. (Well, maybe not snooty Henrietta, who lets Mimi walk miles in the rain rather than give her a lift.)

There's Paddy, with his flashing eyes and seductive charm. Friendly and funny Lois makes Mimi laugh. And seriously gorgeous Cal is welcoming and charismatic. Though Mimi loves her city life and her career, she'd be very happy to return to Goosebrook if it means seeing more of him.

Life is about to take some unexpected and shocking twists and turns. And Mimi's path and Cal's are set to cross again and again - but will it ever be the right time for both of them?

Worse reading I’ve heard

Imogen Church managed to over act to the point I didn’t want to finish this book. Very disappointed. Her characters voices where false and unbelievable.

The title says it all.

struggled to finish it. Narrator kept lowering her voice at times whispering. I listen while driving so I couldn't hear what was said.

The narrator-awful

Really the narration is terrible. I’ve just started the book and really don’t think I can keep going even though I really enjoy Jill Mansell books.

Shame about Narrator

Interesting story as most of this authors books are, but the narration of Imogen Church is chronic. Her voice was irritatingly over exaggerated, fake and horribly high pitched. The pitch of her child voice was painful to the ears, the male voices were all the same, tedious and really unbelievable - men do not talk with the intonations Church used. The sound level of the narration was uneven, I found at times she was whispering so the volume had to be turned up and I still couldn't hear, then the screeching voices came on so had to turn the volume down so the constant variance was annoying to the point of distraction. I returned this book after about about 3 hours as I could not endure it any longer. I should have heeded the reviews on here. Recommend you give this away until another narrator does a version, or buy the written version.

Different narrator required

Terrible narration, very difficult to follow. I believe it spoilt the book. I was constantly turning the volume up and down.

Loved this book. Jill Mansell is the best writer. As always this story was funny, loving and emotional. Just delightful.

Great book but volume issues

Loved this story and the different voices. What really got on my nerves was the lack of volume control. One moment you couldn’t hear what was being said even with the volume up really loud and the next your ears were getting blasted.

Terrible narration

I have been reading this book and I cannot believe my ears! Does this narrator actually think she is good?! it's OK when she is reading in a normal voice, but her doing the characters' impersonations is so sloppy. And her sudden lowering of the voice, whispering
and horrid 'singing' at the end of sentences is so terribly annoying! I'm not listening to anything of Ms Church's anymore.

Great listen!

Sucked in to the story straight away! Listened everywhere... driving, walking cleaning. The change in voices was fantastic just wish it didn’t end. Will be listening again soon

Absolutely brilliant

I had never tried this author before, although I knew that she was very popular, and I knew that I liked the narrator. Both surpassed themselves. The story is full of fun, interesting characters that seem very real, and although the story is not particularly dramatic, apart from one major event near the beginning, it has all sorts of events and twists and turns to keep it interesting. Very, very high quality chick-lit! As for the narration, perfect! Beautifully read, capturing the subtle humour of the characters, and getting every voice and accent just right. I loved this book.

Nice Story. Narrator Unbearable

This was a typical Jill Mansell book, and the storyline is what you would expect from her but..Oh God...the narraor was diabolical. There was simply no finesse in the narration, it consisted mainly of screeching and whining and dialogue that was delivered with the irritating 'Okay Yah' sloane ranger accent. It was almost unbearable.

I do wonder if the producers of thee books ever listen to them abck before publication. Nobody, with a pair of working ears could have thought this was OK.

Great story - great characters

Volume was an issue - lots of quiet speaking and had to have really loud to hear the quiet talking
Either too loud or too quiet

Lovely if not predictable

A nice listen where you're willing for the 2 main characters to cop on a bit faster than they do!
