About this listen

Jill's heartwarming, romantic and funny new novel will delight her fans, as Mimi discovers that love doesn't always wait till the timing is right ...

Mimi isn't looking for love when she spends a weekend in Goosebrook, the Cotswolds village her dad has moved to. And her first encounter with Cal, who lives there too, is nothing like a scene in a romantic movie - although she can't help noticing how charismatic he is. But Cal's in no position to be any more than a friend, and Mimi heads back to her busy London life.

When they meet again four years later, it's still not to be. Cal is focusing on his family, and Mimi on her career. Then Cal dives into a potentially perfect new romance whilst Mimi's busy fixing other people's relationships.

It seems as if something, or someone else, always gets in their way. Will it ever be the right time for both of them?

I tried to listen to this but the narrator was really annoying and I could hear half of it, especially in the car where I mostly listen. I wanted to like but couldn’t listen anymore.

Disappointed

Loved this story and the different voices. What really got on my nerves was the lack of volume control. One moment you couldn’t hear what was being said even with the volume up really loud and the next your ears were getting blasted.

Great book but volume issues

Really the narration is terrible. I’ve just started the book and really don’t think I can keep going even though I really enjoy Jill Mansell books.

The narrator-awful

Loved this book. Jill Mansell is the best writer. As always this story was funny, loving and emotional. Just delightful.

A must read!

Imogen Church managed to over act to the point I didn’t want to finish this book. Very disappointed. Her characters voices where false and unbelievable.

Worse reading I’ve heard

struggled to finish it. Narrator kept lowering her voice at times whispering. I listen while driving so I couldn't hear what was said.

The title says it all.

I really liked the first book of this author I read, but unfortunately I found this one frustrating and annoying especially some of the characters and the way they spoke.

Unfortunately not that great

I love Jill Mansell’s books, but this reader was awful, overacting and managing to make a lot of the characters unlikeable. The significant changes in voice level meant I was constantly changing the volume. I got about 2 hours in and am struggling to keep going. Please don’t spoil another book by using her again!

Good story, shame about the narrator

I’m afraid I could only manage about an hour of this. I found myself totally distracted by the over the top and unrealistic narrator. Unbelievably annoying, and distracting from the story - which I was unable to follow because of this. Shame as I have enjoyed the authors other books so far.

Story spoilt by storyteller

Interesting story as most of this authors books are, but the narration of Imogen Church is chronic. Her voice was irritatingly over exaggerated, fake and horribly high pitched. The pitch of her child voice was painful to the ears, the male voices were all the same, tedious and really unbelievable - men do not talk with the intonations Church used. The sound level of the narration was uneven, I found at times she was whispering so the volume had to be turned up and I still couldn't hear, then the screeching voices came on so had to turn the volume down so the constant variance was annoying to the point of distraction. I returned this book after about about 3 hours as I could not endure it any longer. I should have heeded the reviews on here. Recommend you give this away until another narrator does a version, or buy the written version.

Shame about Narrator
