About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A delightful romantic adventure from one of the best-known and beloved historical novelists of all time.

Robin and Prudence Merriot have been dissemblers since they were children. And in this age of slippery politics, they need to be. So it is nothing for them to rescue a rich heiress from her abductor. But once committed to their masquerade, they must see it through....

For more than 50 years, Georgette Heyer was the undisputed queen of historical romance. And as these hugely successful reprints have shown, she still has a large devoted fan base.

Great story (love Georgette Heyer!) and the performance was excellent- thanks very much for the reading.

Excellent !

One of my favourite Heyer novels. The narration wasn’t the best, unfortunately. The narrator did eventually get into the rhythm, but particularly at the beginning there were a lot of odd pauses, off cadences and mispronounced words. The strange drawl she had for some of the characters made them sound like idiots.

Magnificent story

The reader of the book mispronounced a number of quite common words. Does no one check before the audio book is released? It’s very annoying and spoils an otherwise nice presentation.

One of my favourite Georgette Heyer book. Great yarn. She is an excellent writer.

This audiobook does not disappoint. Classic Heyer romp read in a laudable manner. Glad this one is in my library.

It’s a curious story but nevertheless it’s GH to a tee! Really worth a listen!

Loved this one!
