Bei diesem Prestigeobjekt, der größten Baustelle seit den Pyramiden, sollen 3.500 Kilometer Bahnstrecke quer durch Sibirien verlegt werden. Marlov ahnt, dass dort, wo viel gebaut, auch viel verschoben wird und gerät zwangsläufig in den gefährlichen sibirischen Sumpf von Gewalt und Korruption.
