Hun fik sin litterære debut i 1984 med børnebogen "Sannes første kys", og herefter er det blevet til mere end 10 børnebøger. Bodil Cold-Ravnkilde fik sin debut som instruktør med tre dokumentarfilm i 1975 i serien "Den sociale virkelighed". I 2011 fik hun sin debut som producer af fire afsnit i dokumentarserien "Sådan er søskende".
