Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

A sinister plot that will devastate the Western world. A 2,000-year-old mystery that still lurks in the depths....

When Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon answer a distress call from a research ship, nothing can prepare them for what they find.

A strange and dangerous toxin has left the crew helpless, unable to move or speak. And when a further attack leaves hundreds more paralysed, Juan and his team must race to find an antidote before the damage becomes permanent.

Their search for answers leads to a Roman soldier's long-lost testimony, revealing ancient events that strangely parallel their own. But with time running out and a ruthless enemy determined to seize power at any price, it will take all of Juan's ingenuity and skill to piece together the millennia-old mystery and save the West from the point of no return....

Explosive action, high-octane pacing and razor-sharp plotting ensure Clive Cussler's unassailable reputation as the Grandmaster of Adventure remains intact.

Enjoyable and bittersweet

As Clive Cussler’s last book released before his death this is both enjoyable and bittersweet. Great ending for the series.

Another Great Book

Really enjoyed this book - particularly the Aussie connection (even if no Aussie would ever think about doing such a thing)

The last great story from the master.

As a long term fan of Clive Cussler I was sad to see that this is his last novel.
Released posthumously I started listening knowing the stories would end here.
I was then delighted to see that it was set here in Australia. Something I had been hoping for for quite some time.
Scott Bricks excellent performance (always a highlight of these books) was let down by his awful Australian accents. But then again no American can do a convincing Aussie accent.
Exciting, suspenseful and very believable.
One of his best. Clive went out with the style and skill we may never see again.

Another great story

Loved it but wonder why the Aussie accent is so difficult, we aren't South Afftrican.
A great story once again.

Marauder

As usual with The Oregon Series the Story was excellent. I only hope with the sad passing of Clive that the mantle is taken up & continued.
My one Complaint with the story was the atrocious “Australian” accents, the only thing missing was “Crikey Dingo” at the end of every sentence.
I usually like Scott’s narrative, but that was an offence to any Australian, sorry we don’t all sound like Alf Stewart from Home & Away.
Other than that a great listen.
