Amazing!
What did you love best about Manifesting Abundance?
The material is entirely focused on the text "A Course in Miracles". Personally, I've gotten really tired of the whole "Law of Attraction" stuff and I kept getting the sense that what I was gaining from some material was really missing something. Marianne really dives deep in goes into the deeper principles that can be blocking us from really truly manifesting true authentic abundance in our lives by sharing how our ego (our fear) can want to try to control the outcomes when truly we find abundance through our connection with God (the Divine, the Universe, etc.) rather than worldly things.
Yes, there's Christian language in it, but she is using the language as it is used in the text. However, this doesn't mean at all that any of this is "religious". As Marianne explains, the Course is a psychological training to help us create lives of peace rather than a theological doctrine. If you're able to go beyond the language use and really listen to the underlying message, you're definitely in for a treat!
I'll likely be listening to this again in the future for reference!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not relevant to this, as it is in the more personal growth genre.
Which scene was your favorite?
N/A
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
We are to be in the world, but not of the world. We are spiritual beings living a human, worldly experience -- not beings of the world wanting to have a spiritual experience.

I have become a huge fan of Marianne's after seeing her at the Mile Hi Church in Denver. I then listened to this audible. FABULOUS. I couldn't wait to listen every chance I got. I highly recommend!

too religious
I bought this thinking it was about the law of attraction and manifesting abundance but it's only a church service basically. I don't believe in organized religion anymore than this wasn't of any use to me at all. I could listen to a Sunday service on the radio or TV for free and this is all this was.

Heavily Christian
I have nothing against religion, but not only does this promote religious intolerant (what "others" are doing wrong), but it is so heavily into christian prayers that it was a complete turn off.

Too much "God"!!!
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Extremely religious people!
What was most disappointing about Marianne Williamson’s story?
You have to be accepting of God to get any benefit.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not for me! I'm turned off completely when there is no room provided for those of us who don't believe in the existence of such an entity!

It's a bit preachy and religious
This is my second attempt at listening to something by Marianne Williamson, as people have often recommended her to me as a source of spiritual wisdom.
However, I am having two problems with this.
The first is the terrible audio quality and the second is the content.
This is more like a church sermon than it is an audiobook; heavily Christian, with many references to Jesus and the bible, and also to the contentious work "A Course in Miracles" - which I believe some Christians believe to be very anti-Christian.
I'm not affected or offended by this, just suspicious of the message.
I do not dispute the benefits of surrendering to a 'Higher Power', and having used 12 Step Programmes in my teenage years to escape my own issues, I do find a great deal of truth in the necessity for a Spiritual path, but that is not the same as personal empowerment. Her idea that God will make all your decisions for you is flawed.
For example, she uses the example of the bumper sticker "God is my co-pilot" and asks why God is ONLY the co-pilot and not the pilot -- but in the real world that does not work. You cannot take your hands off the steering wheel and expect Divinity to take you 'round corners; you will crash if you don't take action.
Don't get me wrong about this, it has some good points and some insightful wisdom, but I'm undecided on this presentation's usefulness as it doesn't really seem to be about 'manifesting abundance', it's more about trusting God and letting Him do it for you -- and yet here I am in middle age, having done all that surrender stuff for many years and still not being where I'd like to be.
