Story
Dr. Adizes’s premise, developed in this book, is that the ideal leader, manager, or executive - ideal in the sense that he can fulfill by himself all the roles necessary for the long- and short-term effectiveness and efficiency of an organization - does not and cannot exist. And that is the problem with contemporary management literature: It presents what the executive should do (because that is what the organization needs), even though no one can do it.

Story
Years ago, after suffering a humiliatingly large dumb tax, it dawned on me that I have a seemingly unlimited ability to hit unforced errors and sabotage my business and financial success. I suspect you do, too. It turns out that the key to getting rich (and staying that way) is to avoid doing stupid things. I don't need to do more smart things. I just need to make fewer dumb mistakes. The vast majority of our dumb tax is a direct result of emotional, overly optimistic, and poorly thought out decisions.

A must read for any in Christian work
- By Callum Thomas on 18-07-2023
Publisher's Summary
In his breakthrough book Corporate Lifecycles, Dr. Ichak Adizes, one of the premier authorities on organizational transformation, traced the typical corporate path from inception to decline, revealing patterns of growth and change common to businesses as varied as Bank of America to Domino's Pizza.
Now, in Managing Corporate Lifecycles - The Complete Edition, he brings listeners up-to-date on his theory and practice by combining the content of Managing Corporate Lifecycles: Volumes I and II in one convenient download. This audiobook guides your company to prime with speed and efficiency, covering the different stages of a company lifecycle such as courtship, infancy, the wild go-go years, and adolescence. This edition also reveals strategies for avoiding the typical downhill path - starting with the signs of aging (such as risk avoidance); the descent into protocol dominated aristocracy; and culminating in the final stages of decay: recrimination, bureaucracy, and death.
In addition, Dr. Adizes provides powerful tools you can use to enhance organizational problem-solving capability, eliminate the structural causes of corporate aging, and raise a healthy organization. Through his unique viewpoint and methodology, Dr. Adizes teaches the techniques to revolutionize your business, not just temporarily, but opens the way for your organization to thrive - indefinitely!

Excellent and confusing
This book has some excellent content and concepts. There is no doubt the author knows his craft and applies it well.
Where it falls down is in trying to follow along in an audio book context. The fella reading is very, very ordinary at his job. It sounded like he was sneezing or blowing his nose often throughout the book, and getting words and phrases mixed up frequently. I don't know why these things were not edited out?
The end of the book takes on a little of a (in my opinion) bizarre offshoot into almost pantheism. It was all very strange and difficult to swallow toward the end.
For similar concepts that are organised in a much more user friendly way I would recommend 'Barbarians to Bureaucrats'.
Unfortunately not available on audible or kindle but we'll worth getting the hard copy.
