About this listen

Tony Rossi was an Italian kid growing up on the streets of Chicago in the 1920s. His father is sick; his mother is working herself to death to care for three children, yet all Tony can think about is becoming an entertainer, an actor, a Star! However that is just a pipedream for a boy living in a poverty-stricken world, the reality is that gangsters run the city in the time in which he lives. Mayors, the law, and shop owners are all owned by the mob, so the only recourse young Tony Rossi has is to join them if nothing more than to provide a living for his mother, sickly father, beautiful talented sister, and younger brother.

Tommy Feldman is Tony’s best friend, his family is of Jewish descent, and his parents can weather the hardships of the time and provide a decent existence for Tommy, still like Tony, Tommy dreams of the spotlight, but unlike Tony, Tom has the means to achieve it or at the very least give it a try. And Tom does just that, he joins a vaudeville circuit to begin a life in entertainment.

Follow Tony and Tom as they navigate the world from the 1920s and beyond trying to achieve their goals of wealth and stardom, along the way their paths cross with famous and infamous entertainers of the era along with Gangsters, corrupt politicians, drugs, alcohol, death, and heartache all for the sake of making their dreams a reality.
