Publisher's Summary

Lucius Vinemont has spirited me away to a world of sugarcane and sun. There is nothing he cannot give me on his lavish Cuban plantation. Each gift seduces me; each touch seals my fate. There is no more talk of depraved competitions or his older brother - the one who'd stolen me, claimed me, and made me feel things I never should have. Even as Lucius works to make me forget Sinclair, my thoughts stray back to him, to the dark blue eyes that haunt my sweetest dreams and bitterest nightmares. Just like every dream, this one must end. Christmas will soon be here, and with it the second trial of the Acquisition.

Full disclosure: This book is a dark romance with elements of slavery, violence, BDSM, and super-hot sex. It is the second book of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. If you're good with these caveats, enjoy.

Great Addition To The Series

This is the 2nd book in Celia Aaron's Acquisition Series. This is different style of book but I love it. It has some dark twists but I was sucked in to the characters and what happens to them. Celia Aaron has a way with words that are like no other author I have ever listened to. She kept me guessing on what was going to happen next. I was invested in the characters from the first book and just as invested in them in this book as well. I felt as if I was there with them through out the unfolding of the story. I can not wait to read the next one. I will definitely be re-reading this series.
Celia Aaron is a wonderful story teller and I could picture the whole book while I was reading it. I was able to put myself there and I think that makes reading this book so great. Celia Aaron is an author to watch she is amazing and I will be listening all that I can from her.
I hope you can enjoy this book as much as I did.

Robyn Verne and Stephen Dexter were outstanding with the delivery of the story

A FAMILY’S DELICIOUSLY DARK LEGACY

This is Book 2 in the Acquisitions Trilogy and it’s every bit as twisted, as gripping and as compelling as book1 because this creative author certainly knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat with all the tension-filled undertones and intense interactions between her strong cast of characters. She slowly leads you up, around and through a minefield of secrets and then drip-feeds you earth-shattering reveals to just some of your questions whilst concealing and holding back on so many more. The multi-layered chapters hold secrets, darkness, suspense, tension.. and riveting revelations that emotionally impact on the characters.. and they leave you stunned, shocked, speechless.. and positively salivating for more.

I’m in absolute awe right now because of Celia Aaron’s ability to create an ever-changing twisted landscape.. a landscape that’s depraved.. delicious.. dark.. potentially deadly.. and it is, at times, quite disturbing too. I was literally rigid on the edge of my seat with my spoon half way to my mouth, poised, waiting to hear what horror Stella was about to endure next as Sin’s prisoner.. as Sin’s pawn.. as Sin’s possession.. as Sin’s passionate lover. And, as the challenging second ‘test’ grew ever closer, Stella tried hard to get emotionally prepared.. but nothing could have truly prepared her for the evil game the twisted puppet-master planned for all three acquisitions. The dynamics between Sin and Stella are complex because Stella’s gaining strength, confidence, knowledge and answers.. and now she’s met a vicious enemy who is giving her a shocking insight into the game.. the rules.. the punishment.. and the terrible consequences of failure.

The wonderfully packed cast of characters have all been richly portrayed, the pace of the unfolding storyline has been perfectly planned and the drama-filled steppingstones that’ll inevitably lead to a HEA, have all been skilfully placed by this talented author. There’s combustible sexual tension, sizzling chemistry and bitter-sweet turbulent feelings brewing between Sin and Stella en route to their HEA.

Worth a credit? YES definitely. It’s a nail-biting, drama-filled, dark, dangerous, edge of your seat emotional white knuckle ride for your senses.. and I loved every single minute. Mainly told from Stella’s POV but there are some from Sin’s POV too which gives the listener an insightful look into this powerful alpha man’s psyche, his feelings, his thoughts.. and his heart. Narration was perfect too.

Addicted

Things are heating up and the surprises keep rolling in. I am thoroughly entertained and desperate for more. The narrators made this one so great. Robyn Verne is giving me serious good vibes. I felt it all and I liked how she did the male parts as well. Loving her as Stella. I felt her panic, indecision, desire, and when she was being hardcore. Stephen Dexter is also oh so good as Sinclair. I am squealing like a schoolgirl over this series right now.

Robyn Verne....just no.

I want to start by saying that this book pretty good with the exception of a few parts where I wanted to strangle the h. She can't decide if she wants to participate in the "trial" or not. Too much wishy washy. I was starting to get sick of her whining.
Now, the narrators. Male narrator was mostly fine, but the female, killed it for me.

Narrators:
Stephen Dexter - 4 stars- He reads for brothers, but one had an accent and the other didn't. If they grow up together, shouldn't they at least have the same sort of accent?

Robyn Verne-1star- Where to start?? Her voice is actually pleasant, but her reading, not so much. She gave the Cubans a Russian sort of accent. She whispers when she's screaming. She's a choppy narrator, I. feel. like. there's. a. period. between. some words. in. a. sentence. It's not natural. She sounds robotic. Some parts, she starts reading slow, but gets faster and faster, for no good reason. Her New Orleans accent was extremely cartoonish for some characters. She ends sentences and phrases in question form when it's not. While the character is running, she starts breathing heavily. It was unnecessary and distracting. She also does this thing that sounds like the Sheldon laugh (from Big Bang Theory). It's awful. Her voice would whine a lot, add in the hitching in her voice and it's almost unbearable. Sex scenes: I cringed the whole time listening, breathy and whiny ::shudder::.

Moral of the story: READ this book, don't buy the audible.

Shocked At The Difference

To me the relationship between Lucius Vinemont and Sin? is a 160. it was so wild. One they were so hateful and mean ... but the 2nd one it kind of completely changing ... kind of odd?? Love the narrators. Must read all 3 books to get it all but there are still some ?'s for me.

Need next book!

5 Crazy Ass Must Listen Stars!!!!!

So I'm binge listening to this series and I'm so glad that every book is out because I don't think I would have been able to handle the anticipation. Heck, I can't handle the anticipation of the few minutes it's taking to writing this review before I start the final book. Seriously, I can't stand it. I need to know what happens. My head is all kinds of spinning out of control. I need answers. I need to know what Sin is going to do. I need to know what Lucius is going to do. And of course, what happens with Stella and the rest of the trials.
Again, loved the great narration.

Well narrated with so many secrets so much pain

like vines attacking the tree, so many twists, turns and hidden trails, this story draws one into the life of an "acquisition" and her interactions within a group of predatory elitists using her as a pawn in deciding who will be the next "sovereign" to rule them all. This is part two in this saga the characters are more flushed out and the descriptiveness more intense. one is drawn into the story so well that the next book is a must.

This author draws me in every time

This is a story that sucked me in, from the beginning. While trying to figure out what universe I've landed in, I can't help but be immersed in the mystery of the acquisition. It must be an alternate reality as these practices can't be real, however I'm totally invested in the outcome of this story. Forging on to book 3 searching for a happy ending.

Female narrator is awful

Her voice is incredibly irritating. The inflections, the breathiness and other mouth sounds that are just cringeworthy. I also wonder if she’s ever heard an actual southern accent.
