Jodi Picoult is the author of 17 number 1 UK bestsellers. Now with Mad Honey she has joined up with co-author Jennifer Finney Boylan to give us the most compelling, challenging and contemporary novel you will read this year - and which will start conversations we need to have.

Olivia fled her abusive marriage to return to her hometown and take over the family beekeeping business when her son was six. Now Asher is over 6 feet tall and in his last year of high school, a kind, good-looking, popular ice hockey star with a tiny sprite of a new girlfriend who Olivia loves. Then Lily is found with a catastrophic head injury at the bottom of the stairs - and Asher is arrested on a charge of murder. . . What was the truth of their relationship?

It's's not a legal thriller

I struggled to finish, but I expected a legal thriller. It's about 5% legal thriller (with huge plot holes), and 95% reading someone's diary. (are you excited to read a bee keeper's diary?) It's very dragged out.

Such a disappointment

This was nothing like the Jodi Picoult books I have loved before. I was very disappointed in the content. There were a couple of surprise moments that built on the excitement but overall just not up to the standard that has made me unable to resist purchasing any book written by Jodi in the past.

Disappointed with the book. Could not get further than 2.5 hrs. Seems very dull and ordinary.

Tried too hard to be “Where the Crawdads Sing”

I wanted to love this book.
But it tried (and failed) to do what Where the Crawdads Sing did, and I found myself skipping chapters for the purpose of finishing the book to find out ‘whodunit.’
Avoid.

Don’t miss this book!!

I love Jodi Picoult’s books, and this one brought so much more to the table. The dual stories were brilliant and so very moving. Jennifer Finney Boylan’s writing and experience both enhanced and surpassed Jodi’s. More please!!!

Not what you think

This book is way too long and very focussed on the issue of one of the main characters being transgender. It’s somewhat boring and written in a confusing manner. Not one of Jodie Picoult’s best.

Boring

I was looking forward to listening to this book, I love Jodi Picoult!
But I was disappointed, firstly I hated the narrator for Olivia, she got slightly better by the end of the recording , but to start The characters are two dimensional and a lazy cliché.
I didn’t care if any of them lived or died, I just wanted it to end.
5 hours too long , re-repeating and I felt that authors can't make a decision is this book about hard life of being a woman, domestic violence, LGBT/transgender, parents/teneegers relations ships and as a result didnt really deliver, just threw everything in one pot.
As a result the whole thing was predictable and dull

Very disappointing

This is not a book for anyone who believes in their creator and who doesn’t buy into certain ideologies. I can honestly say that I harbour only Love for my fellow human beings, but the reasons I and many many others like me disagree with the views in this book - was not even hinted at or touched on by the authors. They like to think that they have all the answers, and they paint a picture of us who don’t agree with them that is not even close to the TRUTH. The kind that will actually set you FREE.
