About this listen

A female “Balboa” children’s carer...and boy does she take a battering! Nanny McPhee with the heart of Rocky.

A fast-paced, action-packed, hilarious comical chase. A journey infused with light and dark, and a touch of magic and mystery en route.

In the town of Sour End, sozzled selfish parents party the nights away. The town is run by a dastardly dirty gang, called the Shirkers, who run amok. There are broken toys to fix, but the Shirkers are constantly playing games. There is a vat of vomit and an endless pot of money.

Two young brothers, Lazer and Mookel, are taken into care, and by chance, end up living with Mable Strong, a foster carer and her daughter Florence. The boys quickly start to blossom and shine. But the "shine" attracts the Shirker gang.

An unpleasant surprise is in store for Mable as Dr. Chains is hired. But they are helped by their magical friends Sparkles the Fairy, William Wizard, Chinara the Panther, Marcia Monkey, and Mumbles the Mouse. Mable has a secret trick to stay ahead of the game. The fate of Lazer and Mookel hangs in the balance. Mable searches high and low for the truth to sets things right. If Mable manages to find the truth, then the chase will really be on.
