Publisher's Summary

ACTRESS. ICON. ACTIVIST. Her story, in her voice, for the first time.

In this honest, layered and unforgettable book that alternates between storytelling and her own poetry, Pamela Anderson breaks the mould of the celebrity memoir while taking back the tale that has been crafted about her.

Her blond bombshell image was ubiquitous in the 1990s. Discovered in the stands of a football game, she was immediately rocket launched into fame, becoming Playboy's favourite cover girl and an emblem of Hollywood glamour and sexuality. But what happens when you lose grip on your own life - and the image the notoriety machine creates for you is not who you really are?

Growing up on Vancouver Island, the daughter of young, wild, and unprepared parents, Pamela Anderson's childhood was not easy, but it allowed her to create her own world-surrounded by nature and imaginary friends. When she overcame her deep shyness and grew into herself, she fell into a life on the cover of magazines, the beaches of Malibu, the sets of movies and talk shows, the arms of rockstars, the coveted scene at the Playboy Mansion. And as her star rose, she found herself tabloid fodder, at the height of an era when paparazzi tactics were bent on capturing a celebrity's most intimate, and sometimes weakest moments. This is when Pamela Anderson lost control of her own narrative, hurt by the media and fearful of the public's perception of who she was . . . and who she wasn't.

Fighting back with a sense of grace, fuelled by a love of art and literature, and driven by a devotion to her children and the causes she cares about most, Pamela Anderson has now gone back to the island where she grew up, after a memorable run starring as Roxie in Chicago on Broadway, reclaiming her free spirit but also standing firm as a strong, creative, confident woman.

'The iconic Anderson uses a mixture of poetry and prose to present an impressionistic view of a fascinating life' Booklist

Unexpectedly a great book

Pamela was an icon in the '90ies. I knew her from Bay Watch. I never really followed her life and had no expectations about this book.
I just loved it.
Compassionate, real, easy to listen and yet so profound.
I can recommend it and I will listen/read it again for sure.

Pamela’s story from herself

I loved hearing her narrate her own story and how her journey has unfolded.
She didn’t hold back, and in the book it gave a well rounded summary of her life thus far. Well done, to not play a victim, but to see the hidden blessings for what they are.

Jumped all over the place - could finish

I did not enjoy this book, was a few chapters in but I couldn’t listen anymore. It was too jumpy and her narration was not interesting

refreshingly her perspective

I’ve never heard Pamela’s story from her perspective and experience. This is so apparent when I know bits and pieces of her whole life, but not as she lived it, only as others reported on it. Which was generally very negative. I love hearing her voice. I hope more women do memoirs.

The book as is she is more than meets the eye

Beautifully written and enlightening about a life I had misjudged. What a pleasant surprise. So glad she told her side of the story. What a woman. Brains and beauty.

What a spirit

Pamela is so open and honest, and such a beautiful spirit throughout. So glad she has claimed her narrative.

A truly unique and interesting woman

Absolutely love her voice both her prose and listening to her read it. She has lived a wild, interesting, vivid life and she tells her story so well. I’ve always liked her but I think even those who have underestimated Pamela would enjoy her story. It’s real, heartfelt and reflective. Loved it and want to get the book to have on my shelf to be able to read again.

Well written and performed. The book truly shows there is more to Pamala than simply the pop cult icon imagine.

I really enjoyed Pamala’s story. It feels like she wanted the book to be more than a simply memoir and instead to imbue it with her creative spirit, which works really if you read/listen to it in that spirit.

My only wish would have been for 4-5 more chapters. The chapters dealing with Pamala’s time working in Hollywood felt too brief. Although, that might have been a choice to frame the story through Pamala’s experiences, which are the relationships and not anecdotes about the industry.

I really enjoyed it; life lessons

I didn’t know anything about Pamela Anderson. I learned about the book on her interview on Howard Stern. A story of courage and strength - with tragedy. Would we do the same things Pamela would do if we were the most beautiful woman of the last 50 years?

Love Pam but very boring

Disappointing, Was expecting some juicy stories from her wild days but unfortunately a lot of stories about how much she’s into art and books

Yuk

If I had known she aligned herself with alt right racist white supremacists and loved the company of criminals I'd have never have read this book. I'm so disappointed in her but by the end I just felt like I was listening to a regular old boomer, I feel sorry for her kids
I hope Brittany's book is much better.. Pamala your a ditsy failure

A compelling read of sadness, joy and happiness.

If you’re hoping for juicy gossip and raunchy renditions, then take a hike and go read a Jackie Collins novel. I never had much time for Pamela, in her prime, I now see in my maturity that the media ruined her. My Daughters begged me to read the book ( they’re 20 and 23).
They said I should give her a chance and that I’d enjoy the read.
All I can say is,
Pamela is truly an individual with an air of childlike naivety. She’s compassionate about the natural World and caring for animals. She has changed my opinion of her overnight - she’s a beautiful woman both outside and in, a poet, an artist, a lover of all living things. Never will I envy the fast living of the Hollywood stars and it’s tangled up corruption.

A poetic, inspirational joy

Pamela shines through in this wonderfully written book. Her fable, inspirational and very human. I highly recommend this to all.

She has a God complex

Honestly, listening to this book (which I returned) made me think this woman is a legend in her own lunchtime. She was the best mother and everyone loves her and she does good works for humanity and animals wherever she goes. I tried to persevere but just couldn't. Her documentary was good and thats why I thought the book maybe. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Not what I was expecting

Started off ok but not many wild stories as was expecting would of been just about alright but definitely got put off with the vegan and climate change pushing if that’s what you into fair enough but don’t like the pushing of it

Not what I expected !

Pamela seems like a lovely genuine person but this is a yawn fest. Skimmed over the parts of her life that we all want to hear more of and just kind of goes on and on about stuff I don’t have any interest in. Sorry Pamela but I stopped listening before finishing

It’s a nice book.

I have always liked Pamela, it was a nice book it’s nice she is so in tune with nature and is an animal lover. I knew bits and bobs about her relationships before but there were somethings mentioned I didn’t know about.
