You don¿t need to be a native of the Athens of the North to relate to him or the awful Irene or, indeed, any of the others in Love Over Scotland's rich cast of characters. Angus Lordie, the artist, for example, whose ankle-biting dog, Cyril has his own, very doggish view of life, or Big Lou who dishes out philosophy as well as coffee, and is engaged to the horrible Eddie the chef.
