Great story, some parts are a little......a lot intense, some pretty dark back stories for the characters so be warned.

Enjoyable, will listen to again and again

This book could have been really good but it just lacked emotions. It's impossible to feel anything for the characters or their relationship. Even when they discuss events that have caused emotional trauma it's like they were talking about what to have for dinner. The only redeeming quality was Gary Furlong's narration.

The only reason I got to the end was that someone said that the 2nd half got better. Which is true in terms of moving the story forward but not much else.

British ex-SAS soldier Ben Rider was recruited by spymaster Sir Nikolas Mikkelsen to do his dirty work. Over the years he’s lied, infiltrated, killed, and more for his stern, aloof boss, but behind the scenes, the two have been having an incendiary affair. When Nikolas divorces his wife, his cover is blown and old foes with Russian connections come looking for him with deadly intent. As Ben races to protect his lover, he’s rocked by the secrets he learns about Nikolas, and Ben will have to decide if he can live with this new knowledge.

This romantic action-thriller romance was so gripping, I loved the danger, all the secret layers, Ben’s infiltration mission, and the absolutely sizzling chemistry between Ben and Nikolas. Ben was easy to like, he’s loyal and he’s decent (for a spy), while Nikolas was coldly tempestuous, guarding his information so tightly, wanting Ben but ready to push him away time after time. Being the first in the series, this ends on an abrupt HFN, but definitely ready for the rest of the series! 🎧 UK voice actor Gary Furlong is always so good and his range of UK and European accents was excellent, such as Danish-Russian voicing of Nikolas. He really enhanced the story!

I started with the ebook of Love is a Stranger, and then switched to the audio when I realised who the narrator was. Gary Furlong was the perfect choice to voice/perform these 2 characters.

While the storyline was a little slow to begin with, the second half really stepped up and ensured I would most definitely continue the series. A clever plot twist kept me entertained and wondering what was going to happen next.

Storyline = 4 1/2 stars

What a wonderful audiobook with such a riveting story. The connection between Nik and Ben is rather delicious.
Much mystery , lies and untruths added with a narration that is perfect..
