Jennifer Hartmann is a beautiful story writer! "Still Beating" is one of my favourite books and I finally decided to listen to this one.. just like "Still Beating" it was a beautiful story filled with love loss and tragedy.. at some points the MMC was giving me Austistic vibes from the way the narrator spoke his voice but I guess he was supposed to sound very logical.. The MFC drove me a little batty, pushing him away so much but eventually I got used to her.. the "twist" ending i saw coming from the moment the character in question entered into the book.. being a survivor myself I felt the vibes shift so I knew what was coming. "Still Beating" is still my favourite in the set.

Book one main focus was mainly on the kidnapping and them rejoining the world after their traumatic events making up only a little bit if the book.
Book two starts when he found and the whole book is him trying to rejoin the world after being taken for 22 years. She strings him along and never once get help for her problems. I nearly DNF the book at 40% because she annoyed me so much.
