Publisher's Summary

The much-anticipated final installment of the Keys to the Kingdom series. Arthur Penhaligon wields six of the seven Keys to the Kingdom, but will that be enough to defeat Lord Sunday? Master of the Incomparable Gardens, the last of the Trustees, and the most powerful Denizen in the house, Lord Sunday is a fierce opponent. And Arthur is running out of time.

With everything falling to pieces around him, Arthur must be quick if he is to stem the tide of Nothing and save the House and the Secondary Realms. But he is beset by worries. Will he ever get home to his family? Does he have a home and family left? Is he even really human anymore? And perhaps most urgent of all: What will be revealed when the Will of the Architect is finally made whole?

Happy

So finally finished the series. I believe the end was brilliant. I feel both happy and sad. Will definitely listen to all 7 again.

An exciting and satisfying ending!

The Keys to the Kingdom has been one of those series where the closer you get to the end, the more you think "how in the world is this going to possibly end/resolve?!" Which usually makes the finding out all the more exciting! And I can say that Garth Nix pulled it off in a brilliant way! 👌

A lack lustre end to a magnificent series

Sad. In a series with so much complexity, passion and creativity the conclusion felt like a cheat. As though like the architect Garth Nix had finally become bored with his own creation. Had Arthur’s mum survived I might have forgiven such a glib end. The introduction of yet another a monumental and yet incomplete personal sacrifice for Arthur felt soul crushing and empty.
Overall an ending of convenience, too tidy and lack lustre to be satisfying. I wish he’d write it again.
