Publisher's Summary

Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office.

All the t's are crossed and i's dotted on Ellen's application. Her references are good. And she's easy on the eyes.

Until...

Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers, Board-Certified Music Therapist, plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing - not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones.

The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly humming redhead who's too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen's side when Flint's autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her. A single dad can't compete with guitars - and rats. Yes, she has pet rats.

This woman...

She's annoyingly happy with a constant need to touch him-adjust his tie, button his shirt, invade his space, and mess with his mind.

Still...

She must go.

Their lust-hate relationship escalates into something beautiful and tragic. This sexy, romantic-comedy explores the things we want, the things we need, and the impossible decisions parents and children make to survive.

Contains mature themes.

Incredible story 😭🦋

Flint who is a single father to Harrison, a beautiful boy with Autism owns his office building and one day decides to rent the office above his out to Ellen who is a music therapist to people who range from old age, disabled and kids with speech or special needs. Their relationship is beautiful and so special.

I absolutely loved everything about this book and while I don’t want to say too much as it will ruin the story, it made my heart happy. Harrison literally has no filter making him an honest beyond belief, throwing his dad under the bus…. their relationship between him and his dad made me laugh so hard throughout this book! (And many other laughable moments between all of them) soo good!

1000% recommend this book and Audible book!

This book made me feel all the emotions and had me laughing out loud. Full of great characters, a compelling plot and witty banter. Excellent narration, highly recommended.

I want this life!

This was a really good book! And these narrators were perfect. I actually really liked both of them so I'm going to have a look for books they worked on.
OK, the book itself was great. It had so much going on and so many new topics to explore. The Autism element was beautiful and well done. The self sabotage and self denial on Flints behalf felt human. And El was just the Sunshine they all needed even though she had her own traumas that she was dealing with.
And the rats! That added a hilarious dimension that I was not expecting.

Wonderful story

This is a great book, single dad with a son with Aspergers, carrying personal demons and a musical therapist that brings him back to life.

A miss for me unfortunately.

In Jewel E. Ann’s Look the Part, a single dad Attorney Flint and his musical therapist tenant, Ellen clash when he realises that as part of her actual job, she plays musical instruments with her clients right above his office.

Flint wants to evict her the constantly humming sexy redhead but his autistic son takes an insta liking to her.

This sounded so good and i’d heard so many good things about. I read this on audio and found myself thinking that it went for entirely too long. I liked Ellen as a character. There were a few scenes where I laughed out loud because of the banter but found her a bit too ‘rosy’ for me aka annoyinging happy. Although in saying that, her offering of hanky panky so often to Flint was tiring. Like again?! I get the need to touch people, trust me I get it BUT you hardly know the person you are doing this too so I just found it weird. However this is me, and I’m a person that doesn’t really like to be touched 🤣🤣 so it’s a ME problem.

Unfortunately, Flint as the hero was a complete miss for me. I found him boring and actually couldn’t move past his tragic history. I just didn’t like him at all. The constant back and forth of him being guilty had be rolling my eyes often and the guilt that was brought up all the time.

I think this was the first time a single dad book was a little boring to me. I was so disappointed… 😫

I had high AF hopes for this and can see a lot of my bookstas have loved this book but I just couldn’t get into it. I’m sorryyyyy 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

Once again, I think this was a ME problem.
I think this might have been a book I should of paperback read rather than audio read but unfortunately I won’t be revisiting.
