Publisher's Summary

One Australian woman is hospitalised every three hours and two more lose their lives each week as a result of family violence. But for some women there is a punishment far more enduring than injury or their own death. Look What You Made Me Do is a timely exploration of the evil inflicted by vengeful fathers who have killed their own children simply to punish partners for ending unrewarding, often abusive relationships.

Drawing on her own experience as a court reporter, award-winning crime writer Megan Norris examines the revenge murders of eighteen children to shine a light on the ultimate act of family violence and the shattering legacy of grief such crimes have on surviving mothers.

From the 2018 execution-style shooting murders of Sydney teenagers, Jack and Jennifer Edwards whose angry dad was granted a licence to kill despite his long-standing history of domestic violence – to the premeditated murders of Brisbane mum, Hannah Clarke and her three children whose car was torched by her vengeful ex – this book shows it is not only women who are at risk when family violence turns deadly.

‘Megan Norris has been a trailblazer. The events so accurately described in this book provide powerful insights into widespread patterns of power and control, and the profound harms that can result.' DR DEBBIE KIRKWOOD, Author of Just Say Goodbye

‘It's through sharing these stories that we can lift the sense of shame that clouds victim-survivors, and debunk the myths around intimacy, power and control... We must continue to create change and push for law reform.' MARK WOOLLEY, Small Steps 4 Hannah

A sobering reality check on domestic violence.
Very well narrated and incredibly well written this is a frustrating look at our inability to manage this devastating problem in our society.
Brings it home to us all
It’s a very very common problem.

Narrator lets this story down

I really wanted to love this book. I waited so long to listen but the narrator doesn’t do this book justice at all. Her voice is not a good fit for this book.
I can’t finish it

wow

I felt sick throughout this whole book. I could resonate with so many of the red flags and early signs, from My failed marriage, and the dread I felt when we first split, worrying that my ex husband may take extreme steps to hurt my children, to hurt me. I'm so glad I listened to my gut about how quickly things were escalating within our marraige. Thankfully, this didn't happen, but it could have. I can't bare that these beautiful souls were taken away from their families and mothers, all for revenge. it's sickening. Although I felt sick, I knew this was an important read and I will be sharing as I believe that no matter how awful, this extraordinarily frightening issue of Family Violence, needs to be heard.

A mentally draining read / listen

Whilst I did find this book very mentally draining and I cried a lot, I did appreciate it.
It’s books like this that shouldn’t need to be written but without them change won’t happen!
My thoughts are with all the families listed in this tragic book.

Tragic events and brilliantly written

Our laws must be changed, so another family doesn’t have to suffer the tragedy these families have due to our laws not protecting families.

Harrowing

This was such an informative and at times harrowing book. I'm so pleased that the author updated the book after the Edwards children and Hannah Clarke and her children. Very well researched and presented. Thank you

Such horrifying captivating stories

I took a long time to get through this book as I have children of my own and just thought of anything happening to them or what these other mothers went through just made me feel sick. I still wanted to finish listening as I feel I owe it to the victims so their stories aren’t forgotten, but it was all just truly heartbreaking and horrifying to listen too

Very sad stories but very informative!!!

Thanks for this confronting and informative story - both shocking and sad but very important that we all start taking this very seriously and act now to prevent this from happening further.
