About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .

You probably already know my name. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.

Even though they couldn’t find enough evidence to charge me, I know you all think I did it. That’s OK. I realise being found wandering the streets the next day covered in her blood wasn't a great look.

Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?

And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?

And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?

Perfect for fans of HOW TO KILL YOUR FAMILY by Bella Mackie, NONE OF THIS IS TRUE by Lisa Jewell and MURDER IN THE FAMILY by Cara Hunter.

Critic Reviews

‘Edgy and scary, thrilling and twisty, laugh-out-loud funny. I loved it!'
'Listen for the Lie is a page-turner from the first sentence to the very last. In addition to being a world-class whodunit, full of carefully doled-out twists, Lucy is a terrific character, feisty and funny and, it turns out, brave as hell. It's great fun. Readers will rip through this one.'
'Amy Tintera's highly compelling voice grips you from the opening line and won't let you go. Listen For the Lie is an extremely successful high-wire act, balancing between dark comedy and darker thrills. A delight from start to finish.'
Razor-sharp, original and highly entertaining. Lots of twisty, pitch-black fun in this genuine pageturner.
Amy Tintera gives the fashionable device of podcaster v detective a fresh spin in this scintillating comic noir.
What turns this set-up into scintillating comic noir is Lucy’s narrating voice, which is as smart and sardonic about her own words and thoughts as it is about her relatives, former bedmates and other interviewees.
A brilliantly dark subversive romp.
It's a page-turner you'll absolutely race through.
Readers will be hard-pressed not to wolf down this intelligent page-turner in a single sitting.
‘Smart, surprising and very funny - wickedly entertaining.’

An engaging story, though the characters were a little superficial and the plot quite basic imho

Full of flawed characters with a compelling plot -loved it! The kind of who dunnit that makes you want to keep reading irrespective of the time of day or night. Dark edge with many twists. Excellent narration -similar to Daisy and the six , swinging in and out of characters. Now what to read ??😊

An absolute cracker!

Loved this book from Amy and am very glad to have stumbled upon her from a tictok review.

Loved the setup of the story telling and think Beverley is bloody brilliant!! Twist at the end was one I saw coming with 2 others in my sights.

Highly recommend the audiobook as it really does add another layer of enjoyment.

Fantastic Narration

Wow! What a ride! Loved the story but honestly, the narrators MADE this book. This book just wouldn’t be the same just reading it. The narrators have outdone themselves and I don’t say that lightly!

Best audio performance by narrators

So fun! Just an enjoyable listen. Plus I really like the sarcastic main character. I would love to find more books like this one.
