Publisher's Summary

When Phoebe starts receiving anonymous letters, she never once thinks the most irresponsible man in London is her correspondent. Or that she will fall in love with him.

Phoebe Kimball grew up believing in love, but after failing to find a gentleman capable of capturing her heart, she has turned more practical than romantic. She is determined to find a husband in London this season. If only the annoying Mr. Fenwick would stop appearing every time she sets her cap at someone! When an anonymous letter arrives warning her that her current target is unsuitable marital material, Phoebe begins a relationship with the letter writer that promises something more than a practical alliance.

Griffin Fenwick does not usually care for women on the hunt for a husband, but Miss Kimball's quick wit and refusal to admit she enjoys his company intrigues him. When he realizes the gentlemen on her list of eligible bachelors is full with scoundrels, he warns her the only way he can - through a letter. As he comes to know Phoebe better, he soon realizes he wishes to put his own name on her list. If only she liked Griffin as much as she liked her anonymous correspondent.

When Phoebe realizes its been Griffin writing her all along, will she put aside practicality for love, or spurn Griffin for even trying to woo her?

Letters for Phoebe is the first in a series of books about five friends. The next four novellas will be written by authors Joanna Barker, Megan Walker, Heidi Kimball, and Arlem Hawks.

Fun series

I read this book when it was first being released and then I read another one in the series by another author. And now I have listened to this one again. I think I nearly enjoyed it more the second go around now that I know the ending of one of the other girls’ story. But then I haven’t read a single book by Sally Britton that I haven’t liked. This is a sweet love story between Griffin and Phoebe. They are both fun characters but I especially like Griffin for his lightness and wit.

Utterly delightful, charming and captivating!

Oh how I adored Phoebe and Griffin! I loved discovering more about each of their characters while I listened to this book. I had my opinions and thoughts of who I thought each character was and how they were going to turn out. But the journey of both of them was just delightful! Phoebe and her friends make a promise to marry for love. It was interesting to watch Phoebe remembering her time in boarding school with her friends and their promise, then watching her trying to search for suitable marriage material. Griffin's antics had me laughing at him. And Phoebe's disdainful attitude and frustration with him at their initial meeting. Especially when he continued to stay close by while she was trying to garner an introduction and catch the eye of another gentleman. Phoebe, he's caught onto you and is not going to let you be caught unawares with any gentleman who isn't worthy of you. Although, you have no clue! Ha! It's great! If you're familiar with The Shop Around the Corner (or You've Got Mail), you'll see the little similarities. Phoebe and Griffin keep getting thrown together in different social situations and Phoebe has to decide if she's going to open her heart to him or not. Especially when this mysterious letter writer is starting to gain more and more of her attention and heart. There is plenty of humor throughout the book that will keep you smiling, chuckling, laughing out loud while you read or listen. And the sweet romance was charming. I loved the night at the theater. *happy sigh* I promise, you're gonna enjoy your time while reading this book!!! I highly recommend it. Now I need to go figure out the books for Phoebe's friends and read those books. Content: Clean Happy Reading!!!

Another great book brought to life in audio form

I enjoyed this book when I read it, but I loved listening to it. Sally Britton writes with so much heart that I am drawn into the book immediately. I really like how Jessica Elisa Boyd narrates. She doesn't compete with the story, just enhances it. I will listen again and again.

A fun Regency Read

My thoughts on this book: • I liked that Griffin had honor, kindness, and commitment. He was on a quest to save Phoebe from choosing a bad suitor. • Phoebe and Griffin were very likeable characters that were thoroughly developed and fleshed out. The witty banter between these characters and the situations they found themselves in, made for an interesting plot. • The writer's words painted clear pictures that helped me to visualize the scenes and the emotions of the characters. I felt like I was a part of those scenes. • The author's writing style was concise vivid, and clear. • The narrator did an amazing job of bringing this story to life. • I really enjoyed this short novella. It was such a warm, sweet romance. At my request, I was given a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the author. I have voluntarily left my review and my opinions were my own. I will be looking forward to reading/listening to more books by this author and narrator.

Lovely start to the series

I think I’m going to love this series! What’s better than 5 friends all going on their own journeys — and a little memento to link them all together is just such a sweet and realistic touch! Sally Britton does it again — this was a lot of fun!

Lovely, clean, sweet novella-length romance

Story: 5 stars What is it about receiving a letter? Especially an anonymous letter from a "friend"? Phoebe and her friends at finishing school make vows to only have marriages that are love matches with men who will respect their opinions, make them laugh and love them for who they are, not for their fortunes. A bracelet of red beads (for luck) will be passed around to whomever seems to need it at the time. Phoebe is on her third, and last, season. She is trying to pursue a gentleman who has a fortune similar to her own in hopes of having a marriage where she is respected. (She has given up on the other "girlish fantasies".) Her friends send her the bracelet and, although she doesn't believe it is lucky, wears it as a reminder of friends she loves and their support. Griffin is happy-go-lucky and loves to make people smile. He is childhood friends with Phoebe's sister-in-law and meets them driving through Rotten Row. He doesn't make the best impression since he has just had a "dough duel" with another man and is covered in dough! Griffin introduces Phoebe to the gentleman she has in her sights, but feels guilty afterward because he knows what kind of man that gentleman truly is. He tries to write to Phoebe's brother, but he and his wife are out, he needs to tell Phoebe of this man's character before she pursues him...so, in desperation, he anonymously warns her in a note. This was a fun escape and both Phoebe and Griffin are likable characters. Nothing too deep or introspective in this novella, but the romance was satisfying and clean! Narration: 4.5 stars I could listen to Ms. Boyd for hours and hours (come to think of it, I have!). She reads with just the right amount of speed, inflection, expression and feeling. Her male voices sound male and her British accent is lovely. *poor, **ok, ***good, ***very good, *****something special

Letters to Phoebe

It was such a witty courtship, unique and amusing. I enjoyed the never-ending banter between Phoebe and Griffin. What I admired most though was the underlying kindness and covert protection Griffin offered.

Cute Novella

This was a fun Regency novella that reminded me of "You've Got Mail." I really liked the characters; Britton writes such great characters!  Griffin was a lot of fun and I was glad to see his serious side at times too. I also really liked the idea of this series and that we will get to see all the stories of each of the friends from the beginning of this novella.  I am excited for the rest of the books in this series! Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys regency romances and also anyone who enjoyed the movie "You've Got Mail" The narrator did a great job!

Letters for Phoebe is such a beautiful story!!

Letters for Phoebe by Sally Britton is such a beautiful story!! I loved how Miss Phoebe Kimball and Mr. Griffin Fenwick got to know each other better through their correspondence with each other, albeit one knew the other (better) in real life. Griffin was such a great, good-humored character that felt so refreshing, while at the same time it was so sweet getting to glimpse his more serious, caring side. And Miss Phoebe, she was so lucky to have a friend in him, to look out for her and advise her on her next decisions. I eagerly anticipated every interaction between these two, and definitely enjoyed reading how they slowly started to develop feelings for each other *le happy sigh*. As for the narrator, I think she did an incredible work bringing to life all the characters and all their emotions. Personally, though, there was a moment in the story when it felt like Griffin's mother's voice changed too much for it to be believable that it was still the same person speaking. But notwithstanding that minor fact, I truly enjoyed listening to this book, since it fairly transported me to the setting right beside the characters :) Overall, a great introduction to this new, multi-author series, perfect for fans of the authors as well as the Sweet Historical Romance genre. Can't wait to follow the stories of the rest of the friends! ~ 5 stars

I absolutely loved this story!

I love this story. What a great start to the series. When I first started reading it, I couldn’t help but think of it as a Regency adaptation of “You’ve Got Mail” (a movie I also happen to love) but even though there are some similarities, the story shines on its own. I loved Griffins outgoing and witty personality. He is full of life and is always doing something to make others laugh. It’s not even so much the actions that I found loveable so much as the intent behind them. He is always caring and kind. Wanting to do whatever is in his capability to help another. Phoebe’s personality also intrigued me for it’s complexities. A practical and reserved character she initially comes across as sever but as we continue along we see her open up and realise that she really just wants to be loved and cared for and have someone to show that same care and love for. Wonderfully narrated by the lovely Jessica Elisa Boyd (who is always a pleasure to listen to in my opinion), this clean and wholesome book left this reader smiling and content, yet eager for more. I received a copy of this book with no obligation to leave a review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

This was a sweet story that I enjoyed quite a bit. I found myself having a difficult time putting it down which is always a good thing!
