Robin Brannon was a normal wife, mom, and antique shop owner until a brush with death turned her day-to-day life upside down. Now, she and her two best friends are seeing things that belong in a fantasy novel. Ghosts. Visions. Omens of doom. Nothing that belongs in the peaceful mountain town they call home. When it rains, it pours...and sometimes love finds you even when you can’t find yourself. Fate has given me a second chance at the happiness I once knew in the odd Southern town of Grimm Cove. But only if I can come to terms with some rather eye-opening revelations. Supernaturals are a real thing. I'm a witch. My high school sweetheart, who happens to be the Chief of Police in Grimm Cove, is my fated mate and a wolf-shifter. Ghosts exist and can be very nosy and meddlesome. Someone is murdering witches left and right.

Story
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Story
One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Publisher's Summary
Darcie Weatherby has a full plate - a preteen and sixteen-year-old twins, a wayward grandmother, a nightmare boss, and a manipulative ex-husband. The last thing she needs are hot flashes.
Especially ones that start fires.
But like most single mothers, Darcie sucks it up and deals with it, because what else can she do? The kids need to be fed, her grandmother needs supervising, and her demanding boss needs placating.
Burning her boss’s house down was a total accident.
Honest.
It doesn’t take long before Darcie realizes she’s running on borrowed time. Unless she figures out a way to get these hot flashes under control, there’s a very good chance she’ll spontaneously combust at the Founder’s Day Masquerade Ball and leave her children motherless. There’s no way in hell - or Perry’s Fall, Ohio - Darcie will let that happen.
Never underestimate the determination of a mother.
Especially a smokin’ hot one.

ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE LISTEN!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I always looked forward to the moments when I would be able to listen to the book. I enjoyed the family dynamics, the character buildups and the interactions. The ending was a bit of a surprise and I can't wait to listen to Book 2. The only reason the performance was rated a little low was the narrator's pronunciation of several names. She had trouble between Heath and Pete and I was confused several times as to who was doing and saying what. Overall, great listen and I highly recommend.

Uh....ok?
I didn't HATE this book. But I didn't LOVE it either. It was decent. Let's just say it was too.....all over the place for me. The story starts off pretty good with a decent amount of snarkiness and back story on Darci. I love the kind of mother she is and I also love her kids. The story kind of runs like this: Snarky convos, unexplained fire, deep familial dives into relationships and side issues, more fires, dodging the issues, a long side story that seems to kind of detour away from the main story, then all of a sudden back to the source of the fires, and a short and very spotty explanation of what's going on. Then full throttle into the Grecian myths and their fruition. I personally had SO many questions about it but they weren't answered. It was like ok, this is what's gonna happen but instead of that happening, Darci somehow made another decision and it was ok cuz Darci sets her own rules?? I feel like less time could have been spent with the family drama portions of the story and that saved time could have been poured into what is essentially the premise of the entire book. You get like 3 chapters at the very end in which the whole story is supposed to make sense, but then you get the rest of the book about her screwed up family and effed up ex-husband. Even though the book doesn't really stick to the main story, the writer does a pretty good job of telling the story of Darci's family. It was interesting. I just got to a point that I forgot that I was reading a story about a woman who might have fire powers. The premise is great but it isn't explained very well at any point. The explanations start to take hold but then you wind up with more questions than answers. The narrator is ok. Does a pretty good job with the voice variations until the end. Then its like everyone has the same voice. She does read a little slowly but its not too bad. I think she did a good job narrating.

great book.
I love Denise Grover Swank's book and this one is exception. I'm fairly new to audible but the narrator, Melissa Morgan, did an awesome job. she is the best narrator I've heard so far.

I didn’t want to like this story, but....
I didn’t want to like this story, but.... I throughly did. It had everything I look forward to in a cozy storyline, mystery, suspense, and a little romance. Denise Grover Swank crafted a great paranormal book/audiobook. Melissa Moran did more than just gave a great performance, she became a part of it. If you enjoy paranormal mysteries you won’t want to miss this one.

A good beginning
A good beginning. This story had a slow building start. what was/is happening to Darcy took the whole book for us to find out the answer. while that's not bad, it could mean an Epic series build. I enjoy Darcy, Cyn, Nana, and Harriet. I am NOT a fan of Heath Stone, FBI agent. to me he's an arrogant pig. Assuming Darcy and he are friends and she barely knows him. NOT a Fan!!! He's an asshole in my opinion.

I can’t love it, but I do love this author.
Started off strong! Loved the first half, but then comes Greek Gods/Fire demons etc and it just went to eye roll-city. The first half was great! Lots of snark, and giggles, but I seriously had to tell my bff, to forget this recommendation bc it just went in a direction I can’t like. The narrator was ok, but sometimes talked so slow I wondered if my increased speed button was working on the audible app.. Anyway, I love so many other books by this author. If you’re into crazy situations, maybe you’ll love this, too, it just wasn’t for me.

Excellent
Loved listening to this in fact this is the second time I’ve listened to it. The characters are great especially Darcie who has just become a single mum to 16 year old twins and a younger daughter who thinks she’s the adult . The book is quite funny in places and being over 40 I can sympathise with some of the things Darcie is going through 😝
