Publisher's Summary

Billionaire Andrew Barrington walked away from the lavish lifestyle he was raised in to serve as a Marine. Until recently, he would have said he'd made the right choice. A tragic set of events, however, has him not reenlisting and emotionally hitting rock bottom.

Helene Franklin is visiting her uncle as part of an extended vacation in Aruba. She trades her bikini for an office job when he says there is trouble brewing at his clinic and asks her to keep an eye out for anything unusual.

Every Marine needs a mission. To appease his family, Andrew heads to Aruba to track down what he believes is a wild goose chase. Expecting to discover nothing, he meets a quirky, irresistible virgin who is just about to turn his whole world upside down.

His questions will put her in danger.

Her love will set him free.

What will they gain and what will they lose when they both decide to...let it burn?

Another hit for Ruth Cardello!

Would you listen to Let It Burn again? Why?

Probably not. I absolutely did not like the narrator. She was inconsistent with her male voices, the females sounded like teenagers and I almost stopped listening very early in the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Let It Burn?

The scene where Andrew's family got very real with their feelings and their relationships over the years and the causes. It was very moving when Andrew finally felt like he was a part of his family.

What three words best describe Robin Rowan’s voice?

Not very good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried when at the emotional scenes between Andrew and his family and also when Andrew told Helene how he felt about her after he had finally taken care of the things that had him so unable to feel like life mattered.

Any additional comments?

Despite disliking this narrator, I love Ruth's story of healing and a second chance to be a part of family and finding a love who understood Andrew. Let It Burn is one of the best in the Barrington Series!

Story was good, but...

...the narration was almost unbearable. If it wasn’t for the author’s note at the beginning I would have given up on this book. The narrator was okay unless a female character was talking and they all sounded the same, like a panicked 12 year old. I was happy to see that the narrator changed for the next book in the series.

I quit reading!

This book might be okay, but I couldn't get past how ridiculously dumb the female character is, and to add insult to injury the narrator makes her sound like a twelve year old girl. I literally quit listening to this book. I typically don't write reviews but this was just terrible!

Sadly I had to stop listening

I am a huge fan of Ruth Cardello but this audiobook was truly a struggle to get through, in fact I stopped less than halfway through. Perhaps a different narrator would have made a difference, I agree with other reviews (I rarely do) the voice sounded like a young girl which prevented me from losing myself in the story and found that I didn't care which disappointed me. Maybe I'll read the book instead.

every book leaves more mistery of kent

They could have covered more Kent in the novel than another cliffhanger I would say it was worth the read

My favorite in the series

So far, this has been my favorite story in the series and that's why I'm rating it. I think It had more substants and liked that the female character was strong and knew her mind. The virgin thing was a little gimiky, but handled ok. Sadly, the narrator's female voices have not improved. the voices she gives them make them sound like squeaky airheads. they are very off putting. she should just use the voice she used to state the chapter number.

Thank you for your service to your country!

None of us that haven't experienced modern day war, could truly understand what the soldiers, deployed overseas really go through. How they depend on each other, as their very lives are at stake. It would be hard to know that those brothers in arms, for some senseless trinket lost their lives. It would be enough to send a sane man over the edge. Luckily, this isn't a story of suicide, but more a story of finding a purpose to life. As usual, behind one man's salvation, stands a fierce and determined woman. This is another example of Ms Cardello's ability to create a family we can all want to be a part off.

Narration

Except for the fact that I want to know how something is resolved in this series I would have not continued listening because the voice used for most females in the series is absolutely terrible. It makes the characters unbelievable and I dread when they will be speaking.
