Walter is a retired widower who spends most of his time drinking and complaining about college students. When he is knocked out by a bright light in the sky, he wakes up with new abilities he doesn’t completely understand.
Franklin is living on the streets after running away from a foster home. When he first observes Walter, he sees that there is more than meets the eye and follows him. What transpires is the heartwarming story of a most unlikely friendship as Franklin helps Walter make sense of his new super powers and Walter helps Franklin learn how to be a responsible adult.
Just as Walter is still learning what he is capable of, he is faced with an enemy every bit as strong as he is, and more ruthless by far. Walter and Franklin embark on an adventure of discovery, friendship, and sacrifice. Join them in their adventure by picking up Learning to Fly today.
