The instructor references a lot of words that are shared in both languages. This makes it a lot easier to begin learning. An example is Feng Shui means wind and water. So if you want to order water from a restaurant you order Shui.

I never thought I could learn another language but this audiobook makes it feel possible.

Paul Nobles approach is extremely effective and surprisingly simple. I’ve used his french version before and so was very excited for the release of this mandarin version. Met all expectations, recommend to everyone. Thx to the team who made it.

Although Im about 5 hours from finishing this book it's probably been the most effective language acquisition method I've found, I just let the lesson wash over me as I listen idly, not caring about memorising anything too hard. not being afraid to make mistakes and relistening to the previous chapter the moment I didn't understand what was being said, has made this journey so easy and relaxing so far.
I can't wait to use my Amazon credits on more mandarin lessons

Essential to learning Chinese

I've tried Rosetta stone, Duolingo, I even studied for a semester in university but this program has shown me the quickest results in conversational Chinese. Can I read/write it? No... (Though I could if I used the PDF) but my goal was conversational Chinese, and this has proved an excellent foundation focusing on grammar and sentence structure.

Wow! What a ride!

This is about the fourth time I've tried to learn a language, and for the first time I got all the way to the end of the course. Consequently, I can highly recommend this audiobook.

Granted the plot is a little monotonous: I ate special fried rice about a million times and purchased quite a few laptop computers. I went to Beijing almost as many times as I ate special fried rice. (You'll understand what I mean when you get the audiobook....) but the twist at the end is very unexpected. I have enough of a grip on the language to order food from a restaurant or bakery, or to have a conversation about locations. I can talk in present, past and future tense. The best part is that I have enough of an understanding of the structure to be able to 'plug in' new vocabulary lists.

The course moves at a good pace. Mostly I ran it at 1.25x just to force myself to think quicker, and I was able to keep up. About four times through the course I had to back up about 5 minutes, especially when there was more than one new word introduced. There's a 45 minute review near the end of the course that I'm planning to use regularly as a refresher over the next few months.

Perhaps one improvement would be to add the words for "this" and "that" and "here" and "there" so that I could say, "What is that?" or "Where are you going?" Then again, Paul Noble and his team need to save something special for Book Two.

I have always want to find a way to learn how to speak Mandarin and this audio book is a great way for me to learn. The three narrators were great. The method and the pace fit me really well. Highly recommended.
