About this listen
No books. No long lists of vocabulary. No chance of failure.
Welcome to Learn with Paul Noble – a tried and tested language learning method that has been used by over 1 million people to speak fluently and confidently.
With Paul Noble’s simple, relaxed approach you will learn in a way that suits you – without having to memorise long lists of words you won’t use; scribbling notes as you listen; or feeling frustrated. Instead, Paul will introduce you to the basics of Japanese and guide you through over 15 hours of everyday scenarios – from simple situations like asking for directions and eating out to talking about yourself and how to master the different tenses – that are practical, fun, and applicable. Just listen, interact, and learn wherever you are.
Whatever your experience with languages, whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone with basic knowledge who wants to improve their ability, this is the course to get you speaking Japanese quickly and confidently.
A native Japanese expert will help you to perfect your pronunciation as you progress through the course. You will learn a huge range of vocabulary in no time at all, and be able to quickly make your new knowledge work for you in a variety of everyday scenarios. A downloadable booklet is also included to use as a reference and revision tool.
Paul Noble left school unable to speak a language – having found that the traditional learning methods left him feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. Determined that there must be a better way to learn, Paul spent years devising his own unique method of learning languages which cuts out all the grammar, all the memorisation, and all the stress. He began using his method to teach in his Language Institute and, thousands of students later, he prides himself on never having had a student fail.

I am already doing a distance learning course in Japanese and this audio book does a good job of helping me. I have already pre ordered the next steps in Japanese by Paul Noble. Well worth buying in my opinion.
Absolutely love this course!

I was starting to get really negative about the prospect of ever learning Japanese. I have succeeded in other languages such as Spanish and even Russian, and so I was beginning to think it was just me. And losing confidence and feeling like you are not making any progress is of course is a very bad thing for learning languages. Because usually at that point you don't continue (and why would you?).
And then I did another search on audible and this came up. I thought I'd give it a try because I can always get a refund... and I was not disappointed. I am happy to pay the asking price. I definitely won't be asking for a refund, it's totally worth it!
Note that I'm only half way through the course, but I'm so pleased with my progress so far, I thought I'd write this review now to show how happy I am with it.
I found myself answering correctly about 90-95% of the time (which I think is surprising in itself). I often got things 100% correct. But I can't say that I never made any mistakes. It was good to have many reminders about the existing words. So there is lots of revision in this course.
I don't think I'll need to listen to it more than once. So it is a foundation course and it gets you to construct sentences with your new verbs and nouns right from the very beginning. I think the repetition alone helped me to learn the particles (which I would always inevitably forget).
I found Paul Noble's grammar explanations and explanations about sentence order to be extremely helpful. So it was not just a list of words repeated like some other courses are.
It doesn't have as much vocabulary as behind the wheel japanese, but what it does cover it covers well.
It's way better than Michel Thomas (which seems to me to be very awkward because the learners don't know what they are doing, they're completely lost, thrown in the deep end so to speak...at least with the Russian version they are).
I think it is better than Pimsleur too. Because there are more explanations about what is going on with the grammar (but it is very easy to follow what Paul is saying).
I came into this course with some basic knowledge already, but you could equally do it from nothing. I was actually able to listen to the course at about 1.15 to 1.20 speed, which knocked a complete hour off the total time. So it became an 11 hour course.
I look forward to "next steps Japanese", also with Paul Noble. I have already purchased it!
I'm so happy that I will be doing a youtube review of this course after I've finished it (or maybe I'll review both courses in a few weeks' time). So you'll be able to see that on my youtube channel "learn a language with leslie".
I want to say a special thanks to Paul Noble not just for teaching Japanese effectively and simply, but for literally improving my attitude towards learning Japanese, boosting my confidence, giving me some much needed optimism with this language (Japanese). Perhaps Japanese isn't as hard to learn as they say it is after all? That's certainly the impression I get half way through the course. I was under the impression that Paul Noble made the Japanese course before the other languages but it does not appear to be so.
Needless to say, I'm impressed!
This course has suceeded where others have failed.
