Publisher's Summary

With Paul Noble’s simple, relaxed approach you will learn in a way that suits you – without having to memorise long lists of words you won’t use, scribbling notes as you listen, or feeling frustrated. Instead, Paul will introduce you to the basics of the Italian language and guide you through over 13 hours of everyday scenarios – from simple situations like asking for directions and eating out to talking about yourself and how to master the different tenses – that are practical, fun, and applicable. Just listen, interact, and learn wherever you are.

Whatever your experience with languages, whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone with basic knowledge who wants to improve their ability, this is the course to get you speaking Italian quickly and confidently.

A native-speaking Italian expert will help you to perfect your pronunciation as you progress through the course. You will learn a huge range of vocabulary in no time at all, and be able to quickly make your new knowledge work for you in a variety of everyday scenarios. A downloadable booklet is also included to use as a reference and revision tool.

Paul Noble left school unable to speak a language – having found that the traditional learning methods left him feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. Determined that there must be a better way to learn, Paul spent years devising his own unique method of learning languages which cuts out all the grammar, all the memorisation, and all the stress. He began using his method to teach in his Language Institute and, thousands of students later, he prides himself on never having had a student fail.

This download contains the entire course – Parts 1, 2, and 3. To continue your language learning journey once you’ve completed this course, download Next Steps in Italian with Paul Noble for Intermediate Learners – Complete Course.

Mostly Great

Having studied a little in the past, I was able to follow this pretty well, but I do think Paul's insistence on sticking with the formal third person creates confusion. However, a pretty concise overview well worth listening to.

Fantastic

13 hours of content which I grabbed for 1 token, can now make basic sentences in Italian and have been set up with simple grammar rules which will allow me to use new terms easily!

Easy to learn and remember language course

Very much in the style of Michel Thomas's learning method Paul Noble uses simple phrases that are highly repeated utilising the Spaced Repetition method well known to enhance the ability for long term remembering of subject material. I've been learning Italian on and off for the past few years and this course had me remembering and speaking useful phrases very quickly. Although I already had a good grasp of romance language structure and their verb conjugations I'm sure a beginner will still pick up the simple sentences and create their own. I'll certainly keep this at the top of my grab bag of language learning tools.

Updates Required

Very good program overall. However, I don’t think many people camp anymore or reserve hotel rooms without a bathroom. The program should be updated to include airport situations and phone and texting scenarios.

Best Audio Book to Learn Languages

I’ve tried quite a few audio books to learn basic Italian but this is the only audible book which made it possible for me to start to converse in the language. I ‘m looking forward to listening to Next Steps in Italian and hope it’s as good as this one.

Wish the conversations were a bit more varied

The learning method was great (though I find 1.5 x listening to sound more natural). The phrases and discussions seemed a little odd, but maybe it gets better with the “next” part of the series. Otherwise, pretty great!

Italian 101

Great way to start learning a new language. A good way to progress in the language. May recommend that a few more modern context be used but overall it is thoroughly enjoyable and intuitive.

Terrific

Any additional comments?

I find this method of teaching languages very helpful for anyone wishing to gain a basic vocabulary and confidence to make a trip abroad. I have downloaded both the french and Italian, and although I had a very rudimentary knowledge of both languages, these recordings gave me immense confidence to talk and ask and demand etc. when travelling abroad. It also clarified and SIMPLIFIED the use of verbs and tenses. It is a very simple and repetitive method, but is not boring and keeps you on your toes. I have over years tried many other well known teaching methods, but this one for me is the only only one that actually "sunk in". Still, horses for courses as they say!

Amazing way to learn the basics of Italian.

I really enjoyed this audio book to Learn Italian. Paul Noble teaches you in a way that over the course of the book everything seems to stick. this is coming from someone who has an awfull memory. I would highly recommend this to any beginners who find learning a language difficult through normal text books.

Excellent resource

I can recommend this course: it is well planned and it uses the latest techniques for effective language learning. I've tried others over the last ten years but non are as good as this one. It is easy to follow and to complete: once finished you will be in a very strong position to continue with your study of italian. it lays a good foundation based on the modal verbs and also introduces you easily to both past and future tenses. Language learning has never been easier! Highly recommended: I wish I'd found this course ten years ago.

Gives you some confidence

We were able to go to italy this year on hols but had only 5 weeks notice so I bought this course to help with a little basic language use. It feels very slow and a bit dreary but it is effective. I finished the course and relistened to the summary, which is the last half an hour, a few times. Much of the holiday we were able to stick to italian to ask about things and to buy provisions which felt very empowering. I think the course is like a scaffold and you can add any words you pick up, to it ,to expand its usefulness. If you buy this, answer all the questions out loud, that way you get used to actually saying them instead of just knowing that you should say them and then feeling too self conscious to do so. There are numbers near the end of the course and although they are useful, you really need to practice hearing them spoken as prices because it sounds very different to hear a shopkeeper telling you it is '45.20' than it does to hear the recorded voice say single numbers clearly. You will not be having long conversations at the end of this course, nor will it help you to catch what is being said in rapid italian .If you want those things then michell thomas or pimsleur would be more useful but for a quick cram before the hols when you know no italian, it is well worth it.
