Publisher's Summary

A twist of fate proves wildly explosive in New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss’s smart and sexy Hollywood romance about the cost of running from your past to get to your dreams.

Cutting all ties, Kayla Montgomery drives cross-country to Los Angeles. New start. New life. And an unexpected new job: assistant to Justin Beckett.

The Justin Beckett.

The boy band rebel with the cocky attitude and dreamy bed head who casts a spell over his fans and tests the patience of his handlers.

Now at the peak of Mount Adulthood, he has to build a clean-cut, movie star image. It’s in his contract. No partying. No attitude. No groupies.

To tie it together, he needs a normal girl.

Suddenly, Kayla’s swept up in Justin’s glamorous world, and his arms. But the most dizzying thing is Justin himself. Sweet, generous, reliable, and as eager to shed his past as Kayla is hers.

About that....

Those ties she thought she’d cut? They’ve followed her across the country with her secrets in tow, and they’re about to test Kayla’s courage, Justin’s loyalty, and a love that wasn’t part of the deal.

Fun listen

She runs to LA to leave behind her past and runs into the biggest pop star. She becomes a personal assistant and falls for the bad boy of Hollywood.
Her past catches up to her and I found the harassment storyline very intriguing- women are often dismissed when they don’t have the power.
Excellent narration from Joe Arden and Emma Wilder. I felt a lot of her pain and uneasiness.

So damn good!

This audio is all of the things!! OMG! Great characters, solid storytelling, outstanding narration and all the feels. It has so much of real life yet it still has enough of swoony romance that you want to loose yourself into. Joe Arden, as always, is spectacular but I think this is Emma Wilder's best narration. She conveys all the emotions and nuances to perfection. The story is all of what Hollywood is in our minds and CD Reiss makes it as if she pulled this story out of People Magazine. I also always love how she makes the city of Los Angeles feel like a living entity. It's an overall winner for sure!!

3.5 ⭐️.. ENTERTAINING & ENJOYABLE

I must admit, I was a wee bit hesitant going into this story thinking hummm maybe this was going to be a YA story,, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out Justin is 25... (nearly 26) and, when CD Reiss is writing the story and two very talented narrators are bringing it to life, I thought it should be good. And thankfully, thanks to their abilities, it was.

When Justin meets Kayla he’s the arrogant, entitled, impulsive, spoiled, rich guy the tabloids say he is. However, Justin is in a world of trouble, he’s fighting to claw out a new career for himself as an actor after his boy band spectacularly broke up - and the finger for that f’k up points directly his way! Yes, he’s beautiful, yes he’s caring, yes he’s a dedicated hard worker.. and yes he’s very much used to life ‘his’ way. No one tells him “no”.. but suddenly there’s a mysterious, feisty, mouthy woman saying exactly that.. and she isn’t interested in anything he says either. Kayla has been burned, she’s hit rock bottom, she’s got baggage and she hasn’t got two sh’ts to give anyone.. especially for the pampered Player who is determined to throw her a lifeline. And, when she does reluctantly grab that lifeline, it brings her squarely into his drama and it changes both their lives forever. It also reveals secrets, uncovers villains, settles the past, unites two worlds and character growth does the rest. So, after the rocky ground shakes and the earth moves for them.. they both eventually get their perfect (and well-deserved) happy ever afters. And Kayla’s strength, hard shell, determination and feisty plucky character once dulls then shines through her own personal and professional conflicts. And, during their rocky first steps when she wasn’t impressed, during their shaky second-bases when both realize they want more and the very real road to redemption for them both.. they were realIstic, generous of spirit and heart, genuine and showed depth of character.

A very enjoyable dual POV story.. a wrongly accused and vilified rockstar’s who’s lost his way.. and is led back by a woman who helped him get there whilst she was also fighting her own demons and securing her own future.. and he was there for her too. Great narration by Emma and Joe brought Kayla and Justin to life, injected the warmth and the emotions needed.. which brought fun and flutters, smiles and frowns, jeers and cheers and heart to the romantic scenes.

Worth a credit? Well, that all depends on you, I did really enjoy this audiobook.. after all, it’s a CD Reiss compelling addictive love story.. but, hand on heart - there were a few time where Justin Bieber’s image kept transposing my mental images of this Justin - which (for me) wasn’t good coz I like the more mature alpha type men.. however I persevered 😉🤭😷🙂

great listen & good story

I had taken a break from New Adult for a while, but I always enjoy CD Reiss so I thought I'd listen to this one. The narrators did a great job in that they kept my attention on the story. This was a good celebrity romance with more reality brought in than I usually find in New Adult. It made for an unexpected surprise.

A Heart is a House for Love

CD Reiss is a master storyteller of sharp, sensuous and seductive stories with fierce female heroines. Lead Me Back is no exception. This book is rich in content and drama! I loved Kayla and Justin's depth in spite of the "Hollywood" persona...and the journey to discovering their "Long and Winding Road"...HOME. Kayla and Justin were sexy and engaging. Amazing celebrity romance. Any performance by Joe Arden is definitely worth the credit....he's amazing!!

Me too/Paps mistake romance

While celebrity Justin is dealing with bad press of his own making he becomes attracted unbeknownst to him to an infamous “me too” victim of the fashion industry. When Kayla was unsuccessful in outing her abuser boss in NYC, she runs back to her roots in LA. She ends up getting a new phone that formerly belonged to a bad boy pop star / actor. A modern LA twist to a very sweet romance, where they both mature together while finding solutions to their own problems. As a result, they come out as strong individuals who could provide support to each other while recognizing the need in each other to solve their own issues. Great story and a good pace. The only major improvement would have been if the story had been narrated as a duet instead of dual narration. Emma Wilder’s male voices are sometimes too close in tone and can be confusing, and some of the story could have included more of Justin’s voice. Well worth the credit though!

Lead Me Back

I went back and forth between really liking this and having the feeling of "meh" and wanting to stop but since I had it on audio while working I kept going and it got better. Kayla left New York and moved to LA for a new start and ended up with Justin Beckett's phone. He is the bad boy rocker turned actor who needs to clean up his act and she is just the person to help him except she has secrets in her past. Too bad he falls hard for her. Will they be able to make it work or will circumstances pull them apart?
