What a fabulous story! Beautifully performed and the characters so perfectly real. Vera Caspar was a genius in her building suspence and the lush description evoking the era perfectly.

Loved everything about this somewhat old fashioned yet sometimes startlingly contemporary tale, so famous as a classic film as well As novel … except! the rather purple prose which was probably intended but still sometimes painful. Overall very enjoyable in a hammy kind of a way.
