Publisher's Summary

No two tracts of land are the same. Buying timberland is not the same as buying farm land. Buying a wooded recreational tract is not the same as buying a wooded development tract. This book will give you specific information as it relates to a number of different rural real estate types, scenarios and what-to-watch-fors. You will get good information that can save you money, make you money, save time or all three!

Pat Porter is the broker for RecLand, the Duck & Buck Commander Endorsed Land Broker for six (and counting!) states. Pat made a few phone calls one morning to eight top notch land professionals he knows. He asked for their help. This book is the result. It's a compilation of excellent advice from a group of men who have been directly involved in the purchase of hundreds of millions of dollars of rural real estate across the country. The range of experiences of these contributors extends from farming to forestry; from Internet to legal; and from the Midwest to the deep South. Each writer has pulled from his background, education and experience in buying and facilitating land sales to provide you with key tips that will make you a more successful land buyer. These land pros aren't practicing in theory. They are actively engaged in the land business they write about and even give you their contact information so you can use their services. Timber/Rec Land

I'm new to land purchasing and this was very informative for beginners like myself. I will comeback to reference when I get closer to finding a piece of dirt.

Great introduction for a first-time land buyer

As a three-time residential investment home buyer--as well as an avid hunter, fisherman, and forester--I have a longstanding interest in purchasing land for investment and enjoyment. However, as a scientist accustomed to the highest-quality information before making any decision. This book gave me the background I wanted to understand the factors governing land-purchase decisions. I'm looking forward to making good, confident decisions.

concise and very helpful

I found this to be easy to listen to and helpful for someone like me who is an absolute beginner to buying land 4 a home site and recreational purposes. I appreciate the authorsl including contact info for the contributors as well as the websites given. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I wish that there was at least one female contributor represented as I'd be more likely to contact a female broker being a female myself. worth the money for the read.

Good short read on buying land

G short read if you were looking into buying land for hunting, camping, maybe building a cabin on that property, or farmland. doesn't go so much into if you're going to build property on that land. I think other books would be better suited for that. But if you were looking for land to enjoy outdoor activity or farming this book is a good read.
