About this listen
It is the end of the 19th century. Victoria has but a short time before her long reign will be over, but for the people of Knight's Acre, who sits on the throne is of little consequence. Jessica Milligan is weary and needs a way out of the drudgery of helping her mother, of cooking and cleaning for her father. The solution she discovers quite by accident will carry her through her life, but for now, she is looking for love. She finds it in the new estate manager, appointed by the Earl of Harrisford to run his estate.
But things are not as they seem, not to Jessica nor to her father, who has got the wrong end of the stick. But he mustn't know that. If he dies, he need never know.
