Fallen in Love with Alex Cross

I cannot believe it took me over a decade to start reading the Alex Cross series and it’s been a real journey. I have always enjoyed James Patterson’s writing and Kiss the Girls lives up to expectations. It makes you check and double-check your windows and doors at night. Ako Mitchell’s reading is flawless and helpful towards the storytelling.

Classic James Patterson

I can’t fault classic James Patterson.

Brilliant story line. Excellent narration by Ako Mitchell. Made me jump a couple of times.

I know audiobooks are not the same as reading them but it makes housework enjoyable 😁

Narrative

I found that some of the characters voices get really quiet and I have to turn the volume up to hear them then the next voice is really loud. Very frustrating but I love the story lines. Thank you.

Good book if a bit violent

The story could have used a little less description of the violence for my taste. At some point it stopped adding anything and was just difficult to listen to. It's still a good story.
The narrator does black men's accents a lot better than white females. Some narrators can switch accents more believably. Also change pitch to get a better pseudo feminine quality in their voice if they are male and visa versa. particularly when speaking for a white woman there are a lot of hesitations which were distracting in a minor way. All that having been said he still did a good 4 star job. Just giving a heads up in case you think that might be an issue.
4 stars all around. good book and recommended.

Breathtakingly exciting

Just un-putdown-able! Shocking, thrilling, beautifully narrated. I finished this in record time and found it utterly compelling. Will need a break before the next one in the series to gather breath and get my blood pressure down again.

Another great!

Having just started the Alex Cross series, I quickly bought this following the first story 'Along Came a Spider'. I wasn't disappointed. Very well written and very creepy.

brilliantly disturbing

4 stars for some misinformation but most likely the time it was written. I thought it was gripping and disturbing.

Wish the volume levels were higher.

Slowly getting through all of the James Patterson books. This is a long one and I felt got a little weaker towards the end. Overall a tense read with an unexpectedly weaker finale.

I listen to audible books when I go walking and despite having the volume up full, I often struggle to hear the narration, especially when he whispers for dramatic effect. My volume is up full and I have partially sound proof headphones, but I have to hear some outside sound to be aware of traffic. I miss a lot and often have to rewind which takes something away from the story. Why not increase volume levels and allow me to reduce them?

Top Story and great reader

Absolutely loved it. Another good story from James Patterson. I was gripped all the way through trying to guess the murder. Ako Mitchell has a great reading voice and I look forward to listening to him again.

Frustrating volume levels.

The story is excellent. Unfortunately the volume on the narration goes from extremely loud, especially when announcing a new chapter to barely audible at times which spoils the experience.

annoying: very quiet and very loud

Narrated with contrasting volumes that makes it annoying when listening. Goes from loud to quite. Not enjoyable to listen to.
