About this listen

DANGEROUS LIAISON

Ever since the tragic death of his parents, Porsche's life has been a balancing act between attending college and bartending to support his younger brother and pay off his deadbeat uncle's gambling debt. When he witnesses a gang of thugs attacking a handsome young man in the alley behind his bar, he's reluctant to intervene--until he's offered fifty thousand baht to help the stranger escape. The stranger is known as Kinn, the second son of a notorious crime family. Impressed with Porsche's fighting skills, Kinn makes a proposition: if Porsche agrees to become his personal bodyguard, his debts will be absolved. Porsche doesn't want any trouble, especially not the kind of trouble Kinn deals in. But Kinn always gets what he wants.

Tommy Fuller brings Daemi's characters to life in such a way that you can't stop listening. The tv series was great but the book is sooo much better. Love this series!

Absolutely amazing

Finishing up work for the day, Porsche witnesses a handsome young guy being beaten up by a gang. After some bargaining, Porsche agrees to step in to save Kinn for 50,000 baht. Kinn is the younger son of a criminal family and soon offers Porsche a job as his personal bodyguard—he’ll earn his money as there seems to be lots of gangland violence and reprisals throughout.

I didn’t enjoy any of this. I found the writing and the plot erratic and hard to follow. I wondered if this was actually a translation? There was so much unnecessary violence and torture, it was really unsettling. Worse, the positive sex scenes were fade-to-black, but the violent, nonconsensual sex scenes were described in long, nauseating detail. Most unpleasant. Apparently the TV series is much better? 🎧 Voice actor Tommy Fuller does a good job, but this just wasn’t for me.

Definitely not for the fainted-hearted!
