Publisher's Summary

What would you do if you woke up in another world?

That's exactly the problem facing Alex Burke, a recently employed security guard who accidentally finds himself falling through an ancient teleportation gate. When he opens his eyes, he discovers a world of magic, elves, monsters, and demons, not all of which are eager to meet him.

With no idea how to get home, he'll need to adapt, grow, and kill to survive.

But Alex is a stranger in a strange land, which means he's bound to draw interest. Whether that's from his enemies or the many beautiful women he encounters remains to be seen, but he'll need every ounce of wit, strength, and charm to conquer both.

Take a Chill Pill!

who ever decided to edit this story needs to take a xannax or 9. holy cowbells! there is NO sentence pausing. I actually had to reduce the playback speed to make listening tolerable.

it is okay to have a book extend over 8 hours!!! most listeners prefer it!

this whole series is ruined for me. I do not plan on buying the next book. and would strongly recommend that the publishers do a final product check before releasing something with such a huge and noticable flaw in the future.

15 Year old boys will like this

was a suggestion from Audible. Fantasy elves know about and can discuss genetics? everything out of the main characters mouth is sexual . pick up lines are lame. the elf drops pants and strips upon request. All this less than a hour and a half in. simply horrible. could not finish

Didn't even get 1 hour in

I personally enjoy sex and sexy females in books but the way this is written it sounds like the author must still be a teenager who hasn't ever talked to a woman in his life and when the mc started sound more like a rapist asshole I had to stop. this is one of the times where I will never buy another book by this author again seriously not worth the money.

not bad

I have very little to complain about, I'm not sure if I enjoyed the narrator, but it could always be worse.

struggle to finnish

the main character overthinks everything to such an extreme that it is nearly incomprehensible. the story basically goes to 3 or 4 locations in the book and it takes so long to describe what the character feels and thinks that you don't care about what is going on around the character.

Decent at Most, Couldn't get into it

Overall i guess the book was okay. I felt their was alot of plot holes in the story and that alot of the items were not explained well. I dont know if it was the narrator or the writer but the book just didn't flow well. It didn't have you sitting on the edge waiting to see what will happen next. I didnt even particularly like the characters. The only thing that was well explained was the sex scenes. I felt like he was all about that and the rest was just blah. I personally didn't like it but I am sure some will enjoy. It just isn't a page turner.

Examples:
Okay so now he has magic, what he just can use it? Coming from a technical world, you would think he would need to you know do something to use it. It seems to come naturally but i didn't like the description of how it felt to use magic. Also he didn't seem surprised. I felt that part just wasn't well written.
Other big item was his sword. I mean what all of a sudden he knows how to use a sword. Sword work comes from hours of intense training to not just cut yourself in half by a rebound or something. If he explained it by the sword gifting him knowledge like magically, i could have went with that. But all of sudden picking it up and he is like a hero. Sry no dice.

So much fun!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but Daniel Pierce has yet to lead me astray. So glad I found this author.

This book tells the story of a security guard working at an archeological dig site where a science team discovers what basically amounts to a stargate. He is then transported across space to another planet. Not just any planet, though, because this world is full of dragons, monsters, and demons. It's like stepping into a high fantasy world, magic included.

I have to admit, this was a ton of fun exploring this world. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Cringe.

Portals that appears randomly that helps the people get food.
They don't only open, but they also pull them thru.
Out of these portals, one guy is managed to be pulled thru.
An elf finds him and figures out that he is The Chosen One.
Tells him that she will help him and introduce him to people that can help him learn his magics, seems to stop him whenever she can.
The guy has the right attitude when it comes to almost all the fighting, but, he accepts everything to fast.
Seems to suddenly know how to use magic without training.
