An assassin’s bullet. A deadly conspiracy. But who is calling the shots?
When an attempted assassination sparks a chain reaction of explosive events across London, Britain’s elite security forces seem powerless to stop the chaos threatening to overwhelm the government.
As the dark and deadly conspiracy unfolds, three strangers find their fates entwined: Joe Dempsey, a deadly military intelligence officer; Sarah Truman, a CNN reporter determined to get her headline; and Michael Devlin, a Belfast-born criminal barrister with a secret past.
As the circle of those they can trust grows ever smaller, Dempsey, Devlin and Truman are forced to work in the shadows, caught in a life-or-death race against the clock, before the terrible plot can consume them all.

Pulsating from start to finish
There are so many strong characters throughout this terrific thriller. Action rebounds off every page.
Anyone who loves a political adventure mixed with daring action packed adventure will lap up this first class novel.
Five stars is the least this author deserves for a classic modern day story.

Awful....I came really close to abandoning this!
I rarely write reviews on here but feel compelled to do so in this case.
Zoe Ball waxed lyrical about just how gripping this book was so i ordered it on audible. What a mistake! The first thing that got me was Tony Kent's narration...I really didn't like his narration! It sounded like someone trying to act...but doing so badly... he read in a unnatural breathy way rasping some words in an attempt to impart a sentiment for just how hard the character was. I didnt like the narration, but to be fair to Peter Noble, this may have more to do with the plot than his performance.
Mix this narration with an implausible story and plot that was so cliche as to be cringe worthy and you start to get the idea (the hardest most professional hit man in the world against the other hardest but most professional good guy in the world...who of course are both friends and hugely respect each other ...blah blah blah ) and you get the gist.
I persevered with this book, just in case the story, plot or narration did the improbable and lifted itself...but this was not to be the case (no wonder Tony Kent had difficulty narrating this...he probably thought the same!).
In a nutshell, the plot starts with an assignation of a former PM at a gathering including the US president. The assumption is that the target was the US President who comes out unscathed and instead a former British Prime minister appears to have been accidentally killed....but no...it transpires the former PM was the target the whole time and the whole complicated ruse was to make this look like a resurgence of Irish Terrorism and for the current Government to be seen as weak. The guy behind all this (a politician) had spent years collecting debt markers from people all across the country so he could call them in just when he needed them, and of course they obliged without question. His plan was to increase his own political currency by organizing actual terrorism so it looked like both sides were breaking the peace accord the standing government was inept. This allowed him to paint the government as weak and focused on appeasement and he hoped would allow him to eventually topple them and get elected himself. His support were former military people who also disagreed with the peace process and wanted the good old days back.... Conceptually an ok plot albeit a bit complicated... But then if fell off a reality cliff.
I found myself at first laughing at the implausibility and cliches, and then after a while simply finding them annoying. It felt like the author was devising the plot as he wrote and each time he went down one little subplot he had to invent a convenient explanation or action scene which allowed the story to progress. These weren't credible at all.
My recommendation...go give it a listen! If you do you will really appreciate just how good all the other books are on audible!
