It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting.

When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom. Their phones don’t work, and the car keys are missing. They can’t get back down the mountain. And this killer is just getting started.

Now Senior Constable Kiara Lui has to work out which of them is lying, and why.

I had never heard of Jack Heath before now, but now I am a fan. This book was amazing.

Great!

I loved this audiobook. I especially loved that it was Australian with a lesbian detective… but that the lesbian storyline was normalised. Twisty and turny and an easy, engaging listen.

Great Whodunnit

I loved the two timelines and the way the story "now" talked about people by their surname only and the "then" talked about characters only by their first names - this was a great way to tell a story and have the listener have no idea who was who. It was a nice change having a different narrator for each character and as it made you relate to them a bit more than normal. I got six hours into the book then went back and started from the beginning again to see if I could figure out better what was happening but alas I needed to wait til the end to find out how the story all pulled together.

Fantastic intertwining of storylines, and great narration

So many twists and turns the characters were believable and I was enthralled with this story. Loved the aussie towns and accents. I was kept guessing to who the killer was to near the end. Bring on more of Kiria and Elise adventures in the next book.

Outstanding
