About this listen

It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting.

When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom. Their phones don’t work, and the car keys are missing. They can’t get back down the mountain. And this killer is just getting started.

Now Senior Constable Kiara Lui has to work out which of them is lying, and why.

Amazing characters, very smart plot, the reading is also very good, the actors play it so well that you really want to reach for the next chapter and the end.

Jack Heath weaves his tale through the intense, elicit characters he divulges, teasing us with foreshadowing, to conclusions that I changed so often I was befuddled who did it. My hat goes off to you. A brilliant who-done-it.

I’m not a big thriller type person but this book mixed drama and thriller perfectly with the thoughts of trying to write the ending while listening. Still didn’t see that coming! I Loved the multiple voices and the present/past narrative. Think Forrest Gump with a realistic modern day couples friendship.

Suspense till the end.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author. It didn’t disappoint and I particularly like that some of the characters cross over between the books.

Another great read by Jack Heath

Top stuff! Really well crafted and written, Plot twists a plenty, nothing too obvious, and good tension. Performances were great.
