Disguised plug for a cult in chapter 6

The book makes a few key points about gender and developmental stages in life for males that could be summarised in a page, drawn out into a very long dialogue narrative that makes a whole book. Nicely written conversational exchanges from different character perspectives, I couldn’t quite judge until chapter 6 the plug to enrol in “a New age training program such as Landmark Forum”. Think the cult NXIVM! Suddenly it all made sense how a 1960s philosophy on gender and relationships is published in 2003. Hmm something a bit weird here

Archaic Tripe

I found this book grateingly old fashioned but perservered to the end out of curiosity. Its basic premise is that in order to be happy, women must modify their behaviour to meet mens needs. Start simpering and being coy if you want them to remember your birthday type of thing. all in all, it was very victim blamey to me.

Interesting read on the whole but....

I’m pleasantly surprised at how much I learnt about the different stages a man goes through. However, I did find the advice she gives to women old fashioned and out of touch. Yes women’s roles have advanced a long way- for good reason!
I’d like to propose that women can still achieve a career of their dreams AND the relationship. According to Alison the two just aren’t possible. This made me sad as this lifestyle choice is not sustainable and is denying females of being their true selves. Women- if you can’t find a man who isn’t ‘King’ enough time support you in your career/vocation then look for another man who can carry his crown and not feel threatened by yours.

great if you can get past the story

the content is actually amazing (like the Queen's Code), and very useful. however, is presented within a really cheesy storyline. really cheesy. i soldiered on because the lessons she is teaching were so valuable, but it was painful!

Hooray for celebrating men

I love men. It's exciting to find a series of study that celebrates and supports men and helps the genders to better understand each other with love and compassion.

Much needed insight

Armstrong weaves a great story into much needed insight on interactions with men. I learned a lot from listening and have already seen great improvements in my own marriage of twenty years by just using simple practices.

Honored Men

I had a unique opportunity to grow up with wonderful man. My father 👑 and I had such a great relationship, and I have four lovely older brothers! In a sense, I thought all men were like the man I grew up with. I assumed that they were, and they would take their role accordingly. I always wondered why they treated my mom differently. She was a frog farmer, but I felt very differently in a modern world & thought something wrong with ME for not chastising men!! Hehe 😉

With relationships in the past, I feel like I’m a little like Kimberly, because I had no idea that men can be different, and, that I was looking for a particular type of man, until this last stage, when I knew I needed a king 🤴 & was not upset about dating princes.

I’m in a healthy loving relationship now with a king, finally!! I’ve already done what Karen did while her husband was away (before reading this incredible book) becoming a king. Ahhh life is grand. Alison is a miracle worker & I’m going to continue on the Keys women way & continue sharing this great news to all! Cheers! Men & women alike will enjoy this brilliant story & powerful message 🥰 Love & Light... Queen Blissfulness👸

A total eye-opener!

Even though being in a bit different situation in my relationship, I definitely found myself in Karen and after just first 2 chapters I realized that this might actually save my marriage which has been in a crisis for some time. I listened the rest of the book in 1,5 days and told my husband about it and even him being a bit suspicious, he seemed interested and even little hopeful.

I'm planning to listen the book again, this time slower, chapter by chapter, referring it to my husband, as Karen was doing in the book. Don't know yet if it will help us to overcome our problems, but in one way or another, I'm certain that this is going to change my life in a good way. I'm relieved to give up the pressure of being a feminist at least in a way I never felt suited me well!

An Eye Opener

The gems in this book are delivered through a story, and I see how this is more effective than just telling the "do's and don'ts" in building good relationships with men. If I had this book's wisdom from puberty, I know that I would have avoided a lot of heartache, not just in romantic relationships but with men in general.
