An exciting new science-driven guide to protecting your mind from decline.

Throughout our lives, we are always looking for ways to keep our mind sharp and effortlessly productive. In this book, globetrotting neurosurgeon Dr Sanjay Gupta offers insights from top scientists all over the world, whose cutting edge research can help you heighten and protect brain function and maintain cognitive health at any age.

Keep Sharp debunks common myths about ageing and cognitive decline, explores whether there's a 'best' diet or exercise regimen for the brain, and explains whether it's healthier to play video games that test memory and processing speed, or to engage in more social interaction.

Discover what we can learn from 'super-brained' people who are in their eighties and nineties but showing no signs of slowing down - and whether there are truly any benefits to drugs, supplements and vitamins. Dr Gupta also addresses brain disease, particularly Alzheimer's, answers all your questions about signs and symptoms, and shows you both how to ward against it and how to care for a partner in cognitive decline.

The book also provides readers with a personalized twelve-week programme featuring practical strategies to strengthen your brain every day.

Keep Sharp is the only owner's manual you'll need to keep your brain young and healthy at any age!

Dr Gupta writes in clear and precise language that is informative and easily understood. His advice is practical and realistic. The medical information is very interesting. He speaks clearly and is a pleasure to listen to. A book for all adults.

The science and supporting evidence is well laid out and I believe pitched at a level which would be understood by most audiences. I also found the way it was conveyed was interesting. That is laudable.

However, the means and ways to manage the conditions, either through direct interventions or for carers, was entirely focused on the USA (despite many references made to the authors findings of dementia care around the world). Perhaps a more global approach would comprise another entire book!

And lastly, my slightly reduced star-rating for the narration: whilst the author is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and a non-medical or non-scientist narrator might stumble over some of the words, narrating his own words was not a good option. When reading/narrating, the author's voice was too monotone and this let the listener's mind slip away if not totally ('sharply') focused on every word. I found myself having to re-wind on many occasions to hear how one thing tied in with the next. Personally, I would have preferred a more professional and engaging narrator. But, I do NOT mean that in a derogatory way, to imply the author does not have a pleasant voice. On the contrary, his voice has a pleasant tone, he's articulate, annunciates clearly, and comes across as friendly. It's just that whilst reading, the tone does not vary.

Fascinating, but too USA-centric

A great book explaining about Alazemers and Dementia, ways we can all help improve a brain health. Highly recommended listening. Only issue I had was that there was no attached supporting files or worksheets.

Informative and easy to understand

This is an extremely useful resource... probably a must listen for all adults as they make it to their 30s in preparation. Just wish it had an Australian section.
