Der Musical-Fantast mit dem magischen Orchestrion. Schnell erkannte Karl Valentin, dass sein Geburtsname Valentin Ludwig Fey wenig her machte. Daher trat er zunächst als "Musical-Fantast Charles Fey" auf und entdeckte die Musik als unentbehrliches Element seiner Sketche. Für sein gesamtes Schaffen blieb sie ein wichtiger Faktor. 1903 konstruierte er einen wundersamen Musikapparat: ein Orchestrion, das aus fast 20 Instrumenten bestand. Nur Karl Valentin als musikalisches Multitalent gelang es mit seiner außerordentlichen Fingerfertigkeit, dem Gerät Töne zu entlocken. Er schlüpfte dazu in ein Clown-Kostüm und ging so auf Tournee. Herausgeber Gunter Fette hat die Juwelen der Originalaufnahmen herausgegriffen und für die fünfteilige Höredition neu zusammengestellt.
